Don't know why they didn't run the Dirt Cup A Main before the street stock and midget A Main. Anyone with a cell phone could tell the rain was coming.

Allard won last years dirt cup so how do you figure it was rained out? And in the history of the event 2012 was the only year someone wasnt crowned dirt cup champ.

NWFAN must have a beef with Beitler cuz he sure ain't no fan of NW racing...... guessing you were not even there last night. Racing was really good thru the field. Bummer it got caught short, but the 24 laps run were awesome.

Just going from memory here but.. I think from 2000 or so it's something like this:
2006 Friday prelim effectively rained out after trying till 2am to get it in.
2012 Saturday finale rained out, no champ crowned ( first time ever)
2013 Friday prelim rained out, run Saturday AM
2014 Friday rained out and Saturday finale rain shortened
So over the course of 14 years or so that isn't too bad a record IMO. The last 3 years have been rough though.
People always say just schedule it later in the summer. Maybe it's easier said than done. You also have to take into account other series schedules, big races etc. Maybe mid-late June just makes the most sense logistically.

I am glad as well even if it meant 3 days of suffering in the lineup at the Canada/US border.

Well bud I did not say it has not got rained out before nor did I say it wouldnt this year as I am not a weather man but then again that wouldnt have helped any way seen as they are often wrong and races all over the world get rained out but I do try to stay positve and support what racing I can . Maybe that is it for the Dirt cup and some thing else great will be born and last for 40 + years maybe we could call it the Skagit ASCS Summer dust up and run it mid summer with the national guys for a hefty pay check and if you have been to skagit you will get the play on words in the tittle of the race .

thanks.
by "feature" rain outs i was thinking sat night finale shows, but i didn't make that clear.
basically i was just wanting to know how often they weren't able to get in the final in order to call it a show.
so it seems that there has only been one time in recent history that they have not been able to get an "official" dirt cup in because of rain.
not a bad record considering the amount of rain the area gets.
to indy and beyond!!

maybe i can clarify how and what i perceive as a "rain out"
if any of the shows are halted on any given night, run later or not at all, it's a rain out to me. u can give it a name of you're own if you like without particulars interjected into the conversation
stopping the show due to rain breaks the momentum, the mental fortitude of the drivers & the fans. the groove, wet and tacky as opposed to dry slick and on and on. Basically now it is mostly a left coast event with drivers from ca, or, wa and a few others so why not bite the bullet for the betterment of everyone involved all and move it further into summer and quit using the excuse of "all the other big shows" across the nation are happening. that to me is jut lip service. if it paid like it use to it would attract national talent and yes sometimes it does so that is not an argument for me. for the drivers it is "about the money!" just think for a moment what it costs to haul all the way up there for nothing! if it was you're money would it be a good investment and a good return for your dollar? seriously, look at it from a team perspective. after the 2012 cluster funk of a rain out due to the WOO-zer factor date the drivers from other parts of the country called it a joke, many of us have already forgotten about that one!
bring back the integrity of the dirt cup.......before it's too late! that's just my perspective!
it just seems like they know rain happens in june, every year, past, present & future so why not change the date and get some of their credibility back, they need it now more than ever. this would have been my 19th consecutive dirt cup but bang for the buck just ins't there for me any longer and ya

The relevance of this race is non-existent at this point. Rain has and always will be a factor in that part of the world but it didn't stop people from hauling up there in the past. The year before I went there for the first time - 1991 - they had to run Thursday and Friday on Friday night because Thursday was a washout. Now the three years I got too go - 92, 93, & 94 - we had beautiful weather which was really nice. My last trip there was for the return of the WoO in 94 and it rained but not until the races were over. You can make a big deal about the rain as much as you want but until someone figures out a way to make this race relevant again guaranteed clear blue sky's from Mother Nature aren't gonna fix it. Even if it means switching to 360's - whatever it takes. Anyone involved with that place that doesn't see the need to do SOMETHING to save it isn't doing anyone who wants this event to continue any favors.

They ran the support divisions' features first with rain on the way? Wow, no track should do that to the fans even if rain isn't on the way. The fans in my area would be irate.
