Tulsa Oklahoma (June 25, 2014) - The first Oil Capital Racing Series non-wing event of 2014 was logged into the record books last week and the competition level for the top spots in the OCRS Manufactures Performance Rankings continue to peak a lot of interest. So much interest that OCRS has heard directly from more chassis and engine representatives this past week than in any single week since the MPR rankings began last season. With over 100 Sprint cars within the region, there is a market share to reach and several are taking notice.
Chance Morton won his second OCRS A-Feature and first non-wing sprint main event of his young career with a score at the West Siloam Speedway in Colcord Oklahoma last Friday night in the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories OCRS Non-Wing Special. Morton utilizes a XXX Chassis with an STK Racing Engine. XXX placed three cars in the top five. Fellow XXX users were: Brian McClelland (second) and Kyle Clark (fourth).
The five points Morton earned XXX severely tightened the race in the chassis manufactures rankings. While Eagle Motorsports continues to hold a one point lead over Maxim Chassis (27-26), XXX closes the gap with 24 total points this week. It was XXX’s third win of the season with McClelland and Derek Cottrell also getting scores for the manufacture. With South Coffeyville Speedway hosting the second non-wing race this Friday, these positions could take any turn by the conclusion of the night.

The engine builders rankings continue to be a race to watch as well. Morton gave STK Racing Engines their third win of the year (Alex DeCamp won two) to give them a five point lead over Dyno Services of Oklahoma (27-22). DSO stayed strong with lead pilot Danny Smith picking up a third place finish at WSS and earning the AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories Hard Charger Award after starting tenth. It was Smith’s fifth Hard Charger accomplishment for 2014.
McClelland gave Fode Engines a solid four points for his run and allows Fode Engines to close within just 2 points of Brand Racing Engines for third spot in the rankings (17-15). Allen Racing Engines (11 pts) and Wornhor Engines (9 pts) round out the top five.

MPR points are awarded on a 5-4-3-2-1 point scale based on the top five A-Feature finishers. Only the highest finishing result per manufacture in the chassis and engine categories per event are awarded MPR points. For example, if brand X has two or more cars in the top five of the A-feature, MPR points are only awarded to the highest brands finisher for each category.
