Did anyone see what happened between Ben Schmidt and Jeremy Schultz? I heard there were some choice words after the race in the pits. What was everyone's thoughts on the new track configuration?

All I saw was Schultz giving Schmidt an ear full in the work area. As for the new track configuration I was not a big fan. Thought the previous track layout was a lot better. Not sure who thought putting walls around the track is going to save anyone money as if a driver makes an error he is hard in the wall compared in the past of just sliding off the track and down the banking. Oh well, the change has been made now and everyone has to run on the same track.

One guy feels the other guy dumped him, The other guy feels he was being pushed up the track and given no choice. Will have to watch these two for a few weeks and see what happens.
I tell it like I see it.

I was there, I missed the initial cause of the flip, caught Sherm in my gaze as he was airborne. hopefully footage will surface.
my thoughts on the changes.
1. first of all, the track on Saturday night was super choppy and rough, almost too tacky up high. the curb was prominent. guys were having a hard time near the cushion, made passing difficult. lots of wheelies, and cars bucking, and the flips that happened were pretty extreme. One veteran driver I spoke too mentioned that he thought they went a little nuts with the water and the packing (big tractor tires), obviously with intentions of making it fast and keeping dust down, which they were successful at. new track record in qualifying, and I was hit by very little dust. although I was sitting in the top row.
2. I liked the changes. I had completely forgotten about the lack of walls, but the turns seemed plenty wide, nice banking (more than before?), and I noticed a new much bigger grandstand along the backstretch (pits). One thing I love about Plymouth is there seems to be somebody watching the race from just about the entire perimeter. Including the neighbors on their decks. pit crews sit on the wall along the push-chute and watch. it's a fun atmosphere full of people that seem to genuinely enjoy watching dirt track racing.
3. Ray Underwood does a great job IMO. I'm enjoying watching him evolve.
2 shows this weekend (Oshkosh, Wilmot)and then a break for the IRA for a bit. who's going where? WoO @ Beaver Dam the 28th. I won't be missing that.
*one final note; I took my 2 year old daughter to her first sprint car race, it went quite well. it helps that she naturally isn't sound sensitive, and rarely will go to sleep before ten pm. that was a great experience for me.

I'm a fan of the upgrades that they have made to Plymouth. Track was a little too heavy, but they have only had 5 nights of racing on the new surface, so it's still going to be a work in progress for a while. Overall, it was a good show. I'll never complain about going to a all sprint car show on a Saturday night. The atmosphere of the track in Plymouth is one of the best in the state. The fact that it's right in town gives it character, and I love seeing people in the houses on the backstrech out on their decks with the campfires going. I'm hoping they can bring the Outlaws back in the not to distant future.

I actually liked the configuration. I have seen multiple times at race tracks that when adding an outside wall, it makes racing better for some reason. Same thing happened at Canyon Speedway in Arizona from what I saw. Yeah, they were definetely trying to keep the dust down, which they succeeded at. But man was it sloppy early. But I will say, thats the best two groove racing I have ever seen there. Both the bottom and top were fast come feature time. Was pretty impressed by Blake Nimee's night until he clipped the inside tire in turn two. I will be heading to Oshkosh and Wilmot. Happy racing everyone!!!

I dig the new improvements. Catch fence got a workout, held up. Track cofiguration is a little tight off of 4, that stayed the same as before. Speeds up. Balog, Hepfner and Schlaffer had no problem laying it on the shelf, and pass cars up top. Dan Margetta posted video of the Schmidt, Schultz dust up on youtube. After the race, nothing more the chest pumping in the pit area by Schultz trailer. I applaud PDTR for the saftey upgrades, to many shit hole tracks in the area need to step up their program where saftey is concerned. The racing will get progressivly better as time goes on. Maybe a taller grandstand in the pit area would be in order, like the one at little beaver. And the "grilled hamburger with cheese" always rocks. Overall the event gets a grade of B, for BITCHIN!!!!

With Oshkosh coming up this week, I imagine if there is a fued, it will be over by the time the series hits Wilmot Saturday night. I have seen Oshosh jump and chew up cars, so hopefully everyone got it out of the system last Saturday night.
It just so happens a family function fell into this weekend, so I get to travel up to WI take the action in at Oshkosh on Friday night. Hopefully the track hangs with it weather wise, looks like things begin to get better mid afternoon on Friday.
I will be at Plymouth for the fall race, track prep should be down pat and the track aged enough to see a real good show by that time... I hate to say it, but I am looking forward to September!
Maybe you'll see me this weekend!

By the way, those are damn good toasted cheese sandwiches at Plymouth!

I've never been to Plymouth, but it does sound nice. What I like about Cedar Lake is the tiered parking in 3 and 4. The cheeseburgers are awesome because I grill them myself..

Cedar Lake has been falling apart the last few years. Bathrooms smell awful, inside by the food it smells damp, musty, moldy. The place used to shine but seeing low crowds is taking it's toll. What a shame as it can have some great racing.
I tell it like I see it.
