Lawton Speedway Plays Host to ASCS Speedweek Wednesday Night!

Wingless Sprints Back on Saturday Night

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Geary, Oklahoma – June 16, 2014 - Two nights of dirt track racing action is in store this week for the red clay, three-eighth mile oval at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma highlighted by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series national tour and the second night of the 2nd annual Bob Westphal Memorial Cup/Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek. Also, weekly point race action continues with another appearance by the Wingless Oklahoma Warriors sprint car tour to close out the week.  

It all begins this coming Wednesday night as some of the best 360 sprint car drivers in the country will invade Lawton Speedway and the only appearance by the national tour in 2014. This will be the third consecutive year the speedway has hosted a “Wednesday night speedweek special” and is one of the most anticipated mid-work week events that has played host to one of the largest race nights of the season at the track.  

Just a sample of drivers that are expected include current national tour point leader Brad Loyet, Jason Johnson, Johnny Herrera, Jeff Swindell, Aaron Reutzel, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Tony Bruce, Jr., Seth Bergman, Blake Hahn and Matt Covington. Oklahoma area drivers that could make an appearance include Danny Wood, Danny Jennings, Joe Wood, Jr., Sean McClelland, Dustin Morgan, Alex Sewell,  Kris Miller, Cache driver Joe Bob Lee as well as female drivers Harley White and Jordan Weaver. A host of Texas area drivers are also expected with close to forty drivers from eight different states anticipated.   

The tracks weekly divisions of modifieds and limited modifieds will also be in competition.

Gates will open at 6:00 PM on Wednesday night with racing slated for an 8:30 PM start time. Grandstand admission for adults is $20; students (12-15) and Seniors (over 60) $15; children (6-11) $2 and ages 5 and under free. All pit passes are $30.

Then on Saturday night weekly racing action continues featuring the tracks championship sprints, USA modifieds, limited modifieds and the second appearance of the season by the new, non-wing sprint car series of the Wingless Oklahoma Warriors. Gates on Saturday night will open at 6:00 PM with new summer start time of 8:30 PM.

The following are directions for drivers and fans coming from North Lawton and South Lawton:

Take Interstate 44 to Lee Boulevard.
Go west onto Lee Boulevard to Sheridan Road.
Turn south (left) and go one and a half miles to the racetrack.

If coming from the south of Lawton:
Exit Highway 36 and take the Faxon exit.
Go north onto Sheridan Road.
Racetrack will be approx. 5 miles.
