Double Header This Weekend for NCRA Modifieds!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – June 8, 2014 - After a long two month layoff it is back to point race action for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division as two events will be held this coming Father’s Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday night.
It all kicks off on Saturday night, June 14, with the tours first ever appearance at the Salina High Banks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma. This event will see both NCRA and USRA rules allowed, however, there will be no mixing and matching of those rules. The Salina High Banks Speedway will be lead by current track point leader Paul Coats, along with track regulars Tom Cantwell, Justin Shoemaker, Jeremy Ross, Jeremy Rasmussen, Tyler Woff and Mike Wroblewski.
Then on Sunday night the tour heads to the home track of the NCRA and 81 Speedway in Park City for the annual running of the “Hoosier Daddy” Father’s Day spectacular where only NCRA rules will be allowed. The series sprint car division will also be in action.
Only three races have been completed on the 2014 race season yet three different drivers have reached victory lane. Thomas Tillison, Jr. from Wellston, Oklahoma picked up the first leg of the $2500 to win modified “Spring Scramble” at 81 Speedway back in April while “The Reaper,” Ryan Gustin claimed the night’s second $2500 to win event. Also claiming victory was Superior, Nebraska’s Jon Thompson, this coming atop the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas back on April 19.
The victory for Thompson was enough to put him into the point lead after three events. Defending tour champion Marc Hurd is right there with him as he sits five points out of the lead while Jason McGehee is 15 points out of the lead and Dan Powers twenty points out. Rounding out the top ten are: Kirby Robe, Joe Adams, Nic Baalman, Tyler Davis, Dustin Belcher and Robbie Simmons. Other touring regulars include Chris Pitts, Tyler Shearhod, Cecil Dymond, Justin Moler, John Allen, Josh Lanterman, Cuyler Calkin, A.JL Brochu and Briar Oelkers.
Pitts currently leads in the rookie of the year standings over Simmons, Calkin, Shearhod and Oelkers.
Over forty drivers from a five state area are expected.
Dating back to last season there have been five different feature winners in the last five events held for the tour.
