NCRA Modifieds Finally Back in Action This Month!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park, City, Kansas – June 4, 2014 – After more than one month off, three events are on the June schedule for the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division with one new venue, a Father’s day tradition and a non-point event all on the docket.
It all kicks off on Saturday night, June 14, with the tours first ever appearance at the Salina High Banks Speedway in Salina, Oklahoma. The big, high banked three-eighths mile clay oval has hosted several series divisions in the past and this will be the first ever appearance for the modified tour in their sixteen year history. USRA rule will be allowed and you must utilize either NCRA or USRA rules for this event, no mixing or matching will be allowed.
From there it is on to the home track for the NCRA modified division and 81 Speedway in Park City for the tracks annual “Hoosier Daddy” Father’s Day special. The series 360 sprint car division will also be in completion.
Both Salina High Banks and 81 Speedway events will pay $1000 to win and $200 to start.
The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) will come to 81 Speedway to take on the NCRA regulars on Thursday night, June 19, and while this is a non-point event for the tour, all drivers are encouraged to support this event against the USMTS regulars.
The 2014 race season is still young for the NCRA modified tour with three events having been held thus far. The second annual “Air Capital Shootout” back on April 12 saw Thomas Tillison, Jr. pick up his second career series victory while Ryan Gustin picked up the second, $2500 to win feature in an unique format for the weekend.
April 19 saw Superior, Nebraska’s Jon Thompson superior over the tour regulars, picking up $2000 and victory at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas.
After three events, Thompson is the tours early point leader and holds a slim 5 point lead over defending champion Marc Hurd. Jason McGehee holds down the third position and is only 15 points out of the lead while Dan Powers and Kirby Robe round out the top five.
In the tours rookie of the year point battle, Chris Pitts is your leader with a six point lead over a trio of drivers; Robbie Simmons, Cuyler Calkin and Tyler Shearhod while Briar Oelkers is just eight points out.
