Shane Golobic Thrills Silver Dollar Fair Crowd At Civil War No. 3

(PETERSEN MEDIA-Chico, CA)- In front of a jam packed crowd on hand during the Silver Dollar Far, Fremont, CA driver, Shane Golobic went toe-to-toe with Chico, CA native Jonathan Allard, and used a late race pass after a torrid battle to secure his first Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster win of 2014.

At the drop of the green flag it was 2013 Fair Race winner, Mason Moore, jumping out to the lead with Golobic, Allard, and Sean Becker chasing after him.

The very racy speedway saw two lanes of action, and with Moore using the bottom, Golobic was relentless on top, and was able to jump into the lead exiting turn two on the seventh lap.

With the field bunching up for a double file restart on the 11th lap, Allard was able to get under Moore to take the second spot, as he began chasing after Golobic’s Gabilan Ag Services/Keith Day Trucking entry.

While the battle for the lead up front was heating up, the battle for third was just as exciting, as Becker and Moore continually swapped the show position as the leaders pulled away.

Elsewhere in the field, some moving and shaking was happening as Steven Tiner, Colby Wiesz,  and Justin Sanders were charging into the Top-10 from the rear of the field.

Back up front, Allard closed in on Golobic as the laps clicked down, and on the 21st lap he grabbed the lead aboard his Tri C Manufacturing/K&N mount, right before the yellow flew on the 22nd lap, for Justin Sanders.

After a three lap run with Allard leading, and several drivers using the restart to gain a bunch of positions,  a yellow on lap 24 set up a six-lap shootout that had fans on the edge of their seat.

With Allard getting the jump, Golobic was hot on his tail, as he continued to run the high scary side, as Allard searched the speedway in front of him.

With Golobic getting in front of him at times, Allard would answer, but on the 26th lap, Golboic made his winning move that brough the house to their feet in approval, and went on to pull to a sizeable lead over the final six laps to pick up the popular win.

“I hope all of you fans liked that because that was one heck of a show,” Golobic said on the front stretch. “I can’t thank all of my guys enough for their hard work. We have been fast. On that last restart I told myself to let it all hang out, and I did, and had a blast racing with Allard.”

Coming in second was Jonathan Allard after having an absolute horrible night in Marysville the night before.

“I would have loved to win, but we are pretty happy to be on the front stretch after a disaster of a night on Saturday,” He said. “I am up here with two of the best drivers in the world, so I can’t complain. My guys worked hard all day long, and Clyde and Marion Lamar continue to support us.”

Finishing in the third spot for the second time with the series was reigning series champion, Sean Becker aboard the H.A.M. Construction/A.R.T. No. 35M.

“To be honest, I had the best seat in the house,” Becker said with a smile. “I had a great race going with Mason Moore for the third spot, and we are pumped to be running up front, but that battle for the lead was awesome to watch. This team continues to give me a great car, and I am excited for Placerville.

Behind the top three, it was Mason Moore, Andy Gregg, Colby Wiesz who started in the 15th spot, 19th starting Steven Tiner, Jimmy Trulli, Cory Eliason, who started 14th, and came from back after a late spin, and Geoff Ensign rounding out the Top-10.

In preliminary action, Jonathan Allard kicked the night off by timing in with quick time before Sean Becker, Matt Barber, Andy Gregg, and Jimmy Truli won heat races.

Kirt Organ won the C, Andy Forsberg won the B, and Mason Moore won the night’s Dash to put himself on the pole of the feature event.

I think you've done too many jaegerbombs with Gary...he is still wet behind the ears as well and if that's professional to you, then say no more, as that explains everything.

The post by diecast_dealer was out of line and full of shit but that should'nt be an excuse to take a cheap shot at Gary Thomas who is one of the hardest working guys in the sport. My advice is you should go stuff a chilidog in your fat face and shut the hell up.

Cheers!

Yeah, shit, if I'm going to sit down and read a detailed race recap on the internet for free, it damn well better have an equally lengthy rundown of the heat races and qualifying, or heads will roll. You've got some nerve doing us all a favor by putting up a highly informative summary of the penultimate race of the evening.

Wow, i hate seeing a thread about such a great race turn into what this thread has. I am going to step in here and defend Peterson Media and Gary Thomas for everything they, and all other Social Media & PR coordinators do to help further grown the sport and get as much info as possible they can to us at home on race day. Their coverage will not obviously please every viewed and they are not adverse to feedback. However, keep in mind they are also wearing many different hats each night, and they are not the only ones reporting the action. Most tracks in the KWS/CW circuit has its own Social Media, twitter or Facebook pages (save for Stockton) and are often updating as the race happens. Some posts are delayed. In addition, there is also Race Monitor, My Laps & tracks websites that give us eserving fans the info and updates we want. Will they always be perfect? God no they were not (Race Monitor drops at least 2x's a night at any KWS/CW/Taco Bravo/PVille shows). Point being is there are many resources to get your race recap info from. Because it doesnt come from the series PR team shouldnt be taken to extreme feedback measures as this thread has.

Oh yeah, congrats to Shane Golobic, that was one of the best races I have ever seen at SDS. Check it out if you havent seen this race https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm9IEkEqx8c

Glad to see you can you use proper names. You would think with 50 cars he would have all the detail that i listed. As for your name calling I guess it takes one to know one.Grow up.

The writer is getting paid good money to write detailed articles for a series that his boss spent good money to purchase and revive.Part of reviving the series is detailed descriptive articles that paint pictures as the reader was there similar to what you find with WOO etc.

WOW! Your a class act ChiliDog! Way to make things personal. My post was directed directly at the quality ofand quanity of the recap of his race re caps. ChiliDog your a perfect saint you dont smoke cigs, 420 drink speed never run a red a yellow or red light  after work on your off time? Someone should call you out on a message board if that is what your attempting to do with Gary? I would hope you have proof of what you speak about Gary because I have known Gary personally for many years. My personal relationship has nothing to do with my views on the writings of Petersen Media.
