The main thing to remember in this discussion is that the drivers must agree to the format. The ASCS format seems fine and dandy but are you going to get the WoO drivers to agree to it? That's an extra heat race on the car, engine and tires. Also, you may have more passing in the heats but are you going to have more passing in the feature or is the track going to be used up?

Get creative with this - just for fun. I'll post my format later on.

Your goal is to provide the most balanced format possible that will allow for the faster cars to have the best chance to move forward, but you must do this while making a format that will provide quality racing for the fans. You can factor in single-night points, season championship points, etc. - Whatever you want!

The format that the ASCS has isn't the answer. You've seen cars go away from the ASCS strictly due to the pill draw format. The cars are too even for anyone to start eighth in a heat race and move forward much. I would love to see some form of no qualifying and have two sets of heat races, but you'll get the argument of that adding more chances of tearing up cars. Single car qualifying results in 'when' you qualify and how good the track is. Would group qualifying help with that? Who knows? There's lots of suggestions, how many are feasible is behond me.

I say invert the entire program, draw a pill at sign in and thats your starting spot for the feature, which is the first thing ran that night. Then from there run the dash, then heats then time trials and finish up the night with hot laps.

Johnny could sign off at the very beggining of the show before the feature starts and that may curb some of the complaints about how dirtvision works too.

Seiously ...?? a slam against Gib is all you got??? The racing is a result of everyone having the same motors/chassis available to buy = $$$$ ... Driving talent is a plus ... but not necessarily a HUGE advantage depending upon track conditions. 'nuff said.

It was total sarcasm Filtr and in no way was I slamming Gibson, if you look at my previous posts you'll see I always praise Johnny for what he does. I mainly typed that because I'm sik of everybody's opinion on how they should completely change the format.

I'm sorry but I honestly thought what I typed was so off the wall that there was no way anyone would think I was serious. It was a complete joke though

So is it better to not discuss sprint car racing related topics on a sprint car message board?

you just gotta look at the stats from the last 4 nights, including the heat race, dash & A main Pitman has passed a grand total of 9 whole cars in 4 race meetings to win. Why even the 2nd night at the Grove he NEVER even passed a car ALL NIGHT & won!

Wouldn't the more important thing been that no one has passed Pittman to beat him?

What's wrong with leaving the format they way wrg wants it and change the cars?

narrow the top wing

Less wider rear tires

this would improve the racing cause the cars would have to be finessed more and we would see racing no matter what format the wrg  had.

just my two cents

Or we could all quit going and watching the parade and stay home and watch our high schools march in the local Fair's parade and be done with it. Fans will get sick of it then the Wrg will do something but by then it won't matter cause the Wrg is waiting too long now as it is cause they don't care what we want or would like

Honestly, this may be the best answer. I think a format change is way more likely than this though.

Simple, guve the fans what they want. Pill draw for heat race starting position, top 2 to the dash, then go down in dash finishing order 1-8 draw a number for starting position. Pay a separate small point fund for points earned in the dash for the end of the year total.

Sorry .. but as far outta left field some complaints come - I didn't realize you were poking fun at same. These days it's hard to tell the idiots from the jokers. ... Carry on -- I always appreciate humor.. just sometimes lately it's cloaked in fog and muck.

Kinda like Indy qualifying ... that's apparently a joke they are going to carry thru until the race.

.... or you do what we fans can do - vote with our feet.  We can sit on here, or anywhere else, and talk about how bad the format and racing is, but as long as we continue to plunk down our hard earned money for "the Greatest Show on Dirt", nothing will change.  I haven't been to an Outlaw race in years and I've driven almost directly past tracks that were running them to another track that has a program running worth my time and money. I wouldn't go to one if it were across the street from me.

Nearly every WoO race i've been to in 30 years it's always big crowds and lotsa of excitment.  One out of every ten nights at the track its going to totally stink, three are going to be so so, three are ok, two good and one great.

I've seen and heard every possible format (except draw for the feature at the gate) and there is no perfect formula.  For the record i really believe ASCS format is no good and it hurts thier fan attendance.  WoO is designed to get the heros to the front and thats what most of us really want to see, the good guys racing for the win.
