CRA SPRINTS HEAD FOR SANTA MARIA SATURDAY;
SPENCER TRIUMPHANT IN PERRIS 30-LAPPER

The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars return to Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway Saturday night and it couldn’t come at a better time for Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif.

Spencer won at Santa Maria in June and scored his third victory of the season Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He ranks second in the current USAC/CRA standings behind leader Tony Jones.

Spencer passed Rickie Gaunt on lap 10 and led the final 21 laps at Perris in his Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart Maxim/Shaver to beat Gaunt, Jones, Tyler Brown and Blake Miller.

Three drivers who rank in the “top-10” in USAC/CRA points are still seeking their initial 2007 victories, namely Rickie Gaunt, Rip Williams and David Cardey. All three have second-place feature finishes this year at the PAS.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LATE MODELS, SUPER STOCKS, LIGHTNING SPRINTS AND STREET STOCKS AT PERRIS THIS SATURDAY!

(AUGUST 7, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway will host another quadruple header show featuring the Art’s Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Models, MC Builders Super Stocks, PASSCAR Street Stocks and the Winged California Lightning Sprint Cars this Saturday night, August 11th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30. Families can save on Saturday with the popular PAS Family 4-Pack. Mom, Dad and two kids will get into Saturday’s races for $40.00 and they will also get four hot dogs and four sodas. All they have to do is ask for the Family 4-Pack at the ticket window.

The fierce battle for the Late Model championship will continue this week as defending series champion Art Peterson of Cathedral City, California holds a narrow 5-point advantage over Marina Del Rey, California’s Bill Bartels. At the last race two weeks ago, Bartels grandson, Nick, outran 1993 CRA Sprint Car champion Mike Kirby (Torrance, California) and Corona, California veteran Dino Napier to the Eddie Ramirez checkered flag. For the young Bartels, who lives in El Segundo, California, it was his second triumph on the famous Riverside County clay oval this season. He is third in the points standings behind Peterson and his Grandpa. Carla Laney, Kirby’s sister and a teammate to the Bartels’ clan, is currently fourth while the “Fastest Stock Car Driver in Yucca Valley,” Virgil Haney, rounds out the top five in the standings.

The MC Builders Super Stocks had an interesting evening the last time out when Mark Shackelford of Riverside, California and his teammate Ed Perry of Carpinteria, California came into the main event deadlocked for the point lead. However, they were both disqualified! Perry got the “heave ho” before the checkered flag ended the 20-lapper for rough driving. The affable Shackelford was disqualified when his car was found to be underweight in a post race inspection. The win went to 2002 champion Chad Burns or Riverside, California. It was Burns first win at The PAS in several seasons and was a very popular one with longtime fans. Fontana, California’s Tyson “The Bomber” Talkington, a former motorcycle racer, scored a career best second place finish.

The wild battle for the point lead in the PASSCAR Super Stock class has changed hands again as Moreno Valley, California’s Curtis Dietzsch finished second in the main two weeks ago and took the top spot in the standings from Riverside, California’s Jim Coates. Dietzsch carries a 19-point lead over Coates heading into Saturday’s race. Torrance, California veteran Kenny Mann, who led much of the early season, now sits third. Pico Rivera, California’s Jeff Seesholtz bagged his first ever win in the PASSCAR Street Stocks two weeks ago.

The Lightning Sprints, who have provided several drives including Mike Spencer to the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series, will be making their first appearance since June 30th. That event was a “Kramer Fest” as brothers and cousins Jarrett, Seth and Don Kramer finished one, two three in the main event.

Saturday’s fierce four class fight will include qualifying for the Late Models and heat races and main events for all of the other classes.

Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

FIGURE 8 BOMBERS RETURN THIS SATURDAY
Sprinters, Stock Cars and Mini Stocks also on the card
By Bob Burbach

Marysville CA - August 7, 2007 --- THE FIGURE 8 BOMBERS are back!! This Saturday night the ultra-popular figure 8 will be the task that the Extreme Bombers will tackle according to track promoter Paul Hawes. Back by popular demand, the track will be configured so the field will have to negotiate an intersection right in front of the grandstand. The last time the Bombers ran the figure 8 course a full field of cars started …and only 3 finished. Marysville Raceway Park is the place to be this Saturday night.
The Wingless Warriors of the Wingless Sprint Car Series will headline spectacular open wheel thunder and lightning racing action. The KKCY Mini and Stock Cars will also be on the program.

Yuba City’s Mark Hill will continue his season long battle for the championship with Sacramento’s Pat Russum. Last week’s feature event winner Tony Richards is expected back. Richards and Russum fought the entire distance last week in a bitter, no holds barred slugfest that had the fans on their collective feet. The alcohol burning sprinters will present a complete program.

Yuba City’s Heather Bartlett, Jerry Bartlett and Phillip Shelby will renew their heated rivalry in the KKCY Country 103 Cup Stock Cars. Now that Jeff Olschowka is back in the hunt for victories, there is another iron in the fire to contend with.

Lisa Shelby from Yuba City will take her championship point lead into the KKCY Mini Stock portion of the show. Robert Luster of Marysville will try to 3-peat after taking the last 2 feature events in a row.
Marysville Raceway Park will open at 5 PM, racing starts at 7 PM.

Information regarding Marysville Raceway Park can be found at www.marysvilleracewaypark.com.

PRESS RELEASE, HOOSIER TIRES CIVIL WAR RACE SERIES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2007

Civil War “Napa Valley Challenge” will now pay $3,000 to win Saturday

Cherry Street Mini Storage and the Carrier Family offer combined $1000 victory bonus

CALISTOGA, CA – The Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series will head back to the biggest track on it’s tour this Saturday night, the scenic and intimidating half-mile Calistoga Speedway at the Napa County Fairgrounds.

Saturday’s event will mark the 11th round of the 15 race series that visits 5 different California race tracks between March and October. The series is California’s premier traveling race series for 360 cubic inch powered winged sprint cars and overs over $14,000 in winnings for each event in addition to over $20,000 in championship funds under the title sponsorship of Hoosier Racing Tires West. This Saturday, additional winnings have been announced by two generous sponsors.

Cherry Street Mini Storage of Ukiah will donate $500 towards the victory. Business owners Mike and Carol are avid race fans and frequent the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Additionally, the family of the late Frank Carrier announced today they will also sponsor $500 to the victory Saturday night.Frank Carrier was a longtime crew chief for Auburn sprint car driver Andy Forsberg during his term with the Family Auto Service Golden State Challenge Series team. In 2004 Carrier lost his life following a sudden heart attack. His passing shocked many in the racing community and he continues to be missed by several teams along with Forsberg.

“Ukiah Street Mini Storage is a great friend to this sport with their support of the Civil War and the Friday night events at Silver Dollar Speedway, Frank Carries was a dear friend to many drivers and teams in this series and is sorely missed,” said Bill Sullivan of John Padjen Motorsports, promoters of the Civil War Series. “We’re excited and grateful for both party’s participation in the Napa Valley Challenge. Calistoga Speedway is a special place for all of these drivers but its also costly when it comes to traveling, lodging and tire wear. Thanks to sponsors like Cherry Street Mini Storage and the Carrier family this race offers more of an incentive to compete and draws media attention. This sport needs more contributors like this in the future.”

Hoosier Tires are the official race tire of the Civil War Race Series as well as each of the tracks in the series program, including Placerville Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Petaluma Speedway, Marysville Raceway Park and Antioch Speedway.

Entering Saturday’s event, defending three-time Civil War Series Champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn will lead the roster. Forsberg continues ton lead the standings in an effort to win his third series title in 2007. Entering Saturday’s event, Forsberg will look to win his first ever event at the famed Calistoga half mile and contribute to his current 22-point lead in the series.

Veteran driver Colby Wiesz of Colfax is second in the standings. Wiesz is acareer three time Twin Cities Speedway champion with victories throughout California. Wiesz too will be seeking his second win in the series and a career first victory at Calistoga as he looks to close in on Forsberg’s point lead about his F&F Racing #x1 sprint car.

Sitting in the third position is local area driver Brett Rollag of Rohnert Park. The 2004 Civil War Series Rookie of the Year is just 40-points out of the lead and has posted a career best, five top five finishes so far in 2007 aboard the Rick Williams owned #6. Rollag is being chased by former series champion and Calistoga guru Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove.

DeCaires is a previous Calistoga Cup Champion and has turned many laps at the famed big track. Driving for car owner John Taylor, DeCaires currently rounds out the top five, 71-points from the lead. Look for Placerville’s Andy Gregg to return to the land of wine and mud baths this weekend for another run. In the previous Calistoga event, Gregg was racing in the top five when a steering issue put him out of contention. The one time Civil War winner this season is just 7-points out of the top five.

The race for the Rookie of the Year title is a hot one in the 2007 Civil War Series. Mason Moore of Princeton,16, and Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, 15, are currently within six points of each other. Last Saturday night these two talented youngsters produced one of the most exciting races of the series so far at Placerville Speedway when they dueled for the lead of the 30-lap feature event. Larson won the race with his life long friend and rival, Moore finishing second ahead of the veteran Colby Wiesz.

Calistoga’s own Mike Benson will return to his hometown track this time as a previous winner. After years of trying, Benson finally won at the track where he grew up at back in June during the 2007 Calistoga Cup and will return in defense of that victory carrying the sponsorship of the famed Calistoga Spring Water Company.

The gates to Calistoga Speedway will open at 5 p.m. Saturday night with qualifying starting at 6:30. Adult tickets are $20, children ages 4-12 will be $10. Under for will be admitted for free. For additional information visit www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com.

BCRA MIDGETS PANNING FOR GOLD AT PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY SATURDAY, AUGUST 11

ANNUAL JACK LONDON BASH HALL OF FAME & PICNIC PRECLUDES EVENING'S RACING
by Robert Haugh

08/08/2007 --- The famed Bay Cities Racing Association DMS Race Products 2007 Midget series continues its season this Saturday, August 11 at John Padjen's fast 1/4-mile red clay Placerville Speedway in the gorgeous Sierra Nevada Foothills.

Among the stellar entries will be local favorites, 16-year-old BCRA points leader Justin Grant of Ione wheeling the #17 Thurston Spike/Esslinger and Sacramento's Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez in the #31 Cortez/Walker Motorsports Stealth/Esslinger.

Growing up just miles from Placerville Speedway, Grant loves being able to race at his hometown track. Grant competed at Placerville for the first time in June, capturing a stellar fourth-place feature finish behind only Midget veterans Robby Flock, John Sarale and Floyd Alvis. Grant is hoping at awing his hometown fans by becoming BCRA's first two-time feature winner of 2007.

Cortez, currently resting fourth in the BCRA series points has been struggling thus far on dirt, failing to finish a dirt race in 2007. Cortez is aiming at churning positive momentum while moving forward in the points race.

7-time BCRA champion Floyd Alvis, “The Ageless Wonder” will be piloting his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Esslinger “Green Beret,” while reigning two-time BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton is expected to be chauffeuring the Sarale Farms #32 Stealth/Riolo Chevy and third-place David Prickett will be campaigning the Neverlift Motorsports #15 Stealth/Van Dyne.

Prickett is riding strong momentum after leading several laps and coming home second last week at King's Speedway in Hanford after being forced into campaigning his pavement car's Van Dyne engine in his dirt car, an engine usually only run in his pavement mount. Prickett's dirt Arias engine exhausted at a recent race.

19-year-old BCRA Midget rookie Kevin Morris will be coming into the Placerville race seeking his second career BCRA Midget win, and first dirt triumph, hoping to rebound from a crash vicious last week. Morris will be driving father Del's #17k Spike Esslinger. Morris currently sits fifth in the BCRA points battle.

2002 BCRA car owner and third place driver Bill Lindsey of San Carlos will be campaigning Stu Donaldson's recently acquired #8 Stealth/Pontiac. Donaldson's newest mount is the former Gary Dickenson Midget that Dickenson drove to a seventh-place run in June at Placerville, as well as Five Top seven feature finishes thus far in 2007.

Cody and Tanner Swanson will be campaigning two Midgets from Cliff Blackwell's Midget stable. Tanner, the 16-year-old All-American Driver Challenge (AADC) champion will be piloting Blackwell's #27c Stealth/Gaerte while Cody will be chauffeuring Blackwell's #27a Stealth/Pontiac. Tanner has most recently claimed two Sprint Car features and two Ford Focus Midget mains events. Cody has been finding much success behind-the-wheel of Karts, Legends cars and Ford Focus Midgets.

American Canyon's Travis Berryhill is making a huge effort in getting his #11 Stealth/Esslinger prepped and ready for action this weekend after experiencing a myriad of mechanical woes on dirt recently.

Other top BCRA entries include Santa Clara's Rick Faeth in his unique #3 Stealth/Chevy V4, Hanford's Jared Little in his own #23 Stinger Mopar, Oregon duo Rich Gentes in his #12 Predator/Pontiac and Steve Dickenson in his #99s Edmunds/Pontiac, Clovis' Steve Roza aboard the #20 Bob Roza Beast/Esslinger and 1987 Silver Dollar Speedway 410 Sprint Car track champion Rick Haugh Jr., aboard father Rich's #51 Maxim/Gaerte.

Other entries expected to be competing on Saturday include Pleasanton's Pete Davis in his #00 Beast/Esslinger, Lafayette's Todd Miller in Larry Mertl's #9 Stealth/Esslinger, former BCRA car owner champion Cameron Beard aboard his #19b Stealth/Fontana and Dave Stoltz in his #77 Pacific Flyer/Buick V6.

Joining the Midgets on Saturday will be the BCRA Midget Lites, BCRA Vintage Midgets, Wingless Sprints, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks.

Prior to the evening's racing program, BCRA's Annual Jack London Bash Hall of Fame & Picnic will transpire at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds picnic area, adjacent to the track's pit area. The Jack London Bash begins at 10 a.m., with BBQ lunch at 12 noon and Hall of Fame inductions beginning at 1:30 p.m. Chef Rick “E” will be preparing tri-tip and hot dogs, along with chili, potato salad, drinks and dessert. The 2007 BCRA Hall of Fame inductees are: Midget owner John Pestana, Midget Driver Wheeler Gresham, Midget Driver Bob Cortner, Hardtop Driver Steve Mentch, Hardtop Owner Nelson Snow and Car Builders Art Boune and George Benson.

ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY SEASON MOVES INTO HOMESTRETCH

08/08/2007 --- SAN BERNARDINO, California – It’s about time for things to heat up at Orange Show Speedway.

Saturday, Aug. 11, when the first 500 spectators through the entrance gate on Del Taco’s “Beat the Heat Night” will get free battery-operated fans, the final third of the stock car season will get under way at 6:30 p.m. on the quarter-mile oval at the National Orange Show Events Center.

Only a handful of races remain for the Lucas Oil Outlaw Figure 8s, BSR West Late Models, ASA Stock Ponys and Leno’s Rico Taco Legends Cars and three are left for the Street Stocks, the five classes on this weekend’s schedule. That means every finishing position will become extremely important to the drivers involved in the various championship battles, and that should add some spice to what already has been an extremely competitive season.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. and racing gets under way at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62 and over), handicapped and juniors (13-16) and $2 for children (6-12). Active military personnel and veterans with valid military identification are admitted free of charge. Parking is $4 per car with entry through Gate 3 off Mill Street.

Those unable to make it to the speedway still can follow the action with “Orange Show Speedway Live,” the radio broadcast on KTTD (AM 1350) that begins at 8 p.m. and is simulcast on the Internet at www.nixacountry.com.

The likelihood of each race having added importance is particularly true for the drivers of the Leno’s Rico Taco Legends Cars, those quick and nimble 5/8-scale models of NASCAR Modifieds from the 1930s. They are part of a multi-level competition, with points awarded at the national, state and local track levels, and several of those who call Orange Show Speedway home are contending for both track and state titles.

The Orange Show Speedway points leader is 17-year-old Bree Brewer, who’s about to begin her senior year at Riverside’s Norte Vista High. She has a 16-point lead on Darren Amidon, of Santee, with four of 14 races remaining. Brewer has four wins and Amidon has three, and barring any unforeseen disasters one of them will win the track title since third-place Brent Scheidmantle is 88 points behind Amidon.

Both could wind up with California state championships, though, as could Gary Scheuerell of Murrieta, who is seventh in points. That’s because while they race in one group at the speedway, they are scored in separate divisions at the state and national levels – Amidon as a Pro, Brewer as a Semi-Pro and Scheuerell in the Masters category.

Amidon, 22, who works as a highway striper, is the top Pro driver in the state and No. 20 in the nation. Amidon is more than 500 points ahead of Frankie Marks, who races at Lakeport Speedway in Northern California and is 47th nationally. But Chad Schug of Oak Hills, who won his second Orange Show main event on July 28, is only 12 points behind Marks.

Brewer is second in the state and 48th nationally, 80 points behind Lakeport regular Derek Copeland, who is 41st in the nation. Brent Scheidmantle, 14, of Rancho Cucamonga, who’s third in points at Orange Show Speedway, also is third in the state, with Ryan O’Connor fifth.

Scheuerell, 51, who also has a main event win this season, is second in the state and 40th nationally in the Masters division, for drivers 40 and over. He trails state leader Randy Fellman, another Lakeport regular, by 97 points, and is followed by three more Northern California drivers and Orange Show regular Larry Meredith, who actually leads Scheuerell in points at Orange Show Speedway.

The points battles in the other classes that will be in action Saturday range from a runaway in the Outlaw Figure 8 class, where Tom Smith has won all 10 races, to a three-way tie for first in the Street Stock class. Three events are left in the eight-race Street Stock season and John Reiman, Bobby Dezarov and Cliff Conklin are tied at the top with 198 points apiece, with Conklin’s three straight wins giving him the edge.

Smith has a 44-point edge over Rusty Stewart with five races left for the Outlaw Figure 8s, Jim Conklin is 18 points up on Dave Arce and 24 ahead of Brian Malone with five Late Model mains to go, and Jim Edmiston has a 12-point advantage over Matt Goodwin with five races left for the Stock Pony class.

Racing at Orange Show Speedway is sponsored by Lucas Oil, Blackhawk Protection, Hype Manufacturing, Del Taco, Aflac Insurance, KTTD radio (AM 1350), Leno’s Rico Taco, Soboba Casino, Budweiser, Hoosier Racing Tires, Frank’s Radio Service, Torco Racing Fuels, Parker Pumper/BSR West, Eibach Springs, JP Striping, Center Chevrolet, Pepsi, Matich Coporation, L. Curti Truck and Equipment, One Stop Landscape Supply, Extreme Exhibits & Logistics, Little Green Onions and the San Bernardino County Sun.

Dale Bosowski – Media Relations

Western Late Models and Big Wheel Bikes Take on Madera Speedway

This Saturday, August 11 at Madera Speedway will be a special evening as the stars of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series will share the “Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West” with the young stars of tomorrow and their Big Wheel Bikes in the 1st Annual “Kids Night” program.

The excitement and intensity continues to build at Madera as the six-race battle for the 2007 Western Late Model “Chase to the Championship” reaches the halfway point this Saturday. In round #3, the powerful Western Late Models will get it on in a 50-lap feature, paying $1,000 to the winner.

Two very talented 21-year-old drivers - Mark Holeman of Los Altos and Ross Strmiska of Stockton - continue to top the Western Late Model point standings, but another young driver made his presence felt last Saturday. Trevor Schlundt, age 17 of Clovis, put together a brilliant drive, going wheel to wheel with former two-time Stockton 99 track champion David Philpott for much of the event, to pick up his first career Western Late Model victory and vault into third place in the standings.

Ashley Furniture Night Highlights Points Race Number 19
by Troy Hennig

CHICO, CA (8-8-07) - Ashley Furniture Home Stores will give away their final bed of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday night. August 10. Ashley Furniture is a fixture on the side of Fast Eddy Lewis and his #7x sprint car. Anyone entering the front grandstand has a chance to enter the drawing that will take place later in the night. The sprint car main event will once again pay $2,000 to win.

Three racing divisions will compete during this Friday night led by the popular 410 sprint cars. Also joining the action will be the wingless sprints and pure stocks. The front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7:30. Adult price is $10.00. Junior and Senior prices are $8.00. Children are $4.00.

Chico's Stephen Allard leads the 410 sprint car charge this Friday night. Even though he dropped out of last Friday night's main event he still holds a commanding lead over Oroville's Sean Becker. Allard holds a 41 point lead over Becker with three races to go. A major let down on the part of Allard's team is the only way Becker has a shot. Placerville's Andy Gregg has steadily climbed into the third spot in points and getting high marks from locals who know this is his first full-time season at Chico in a 410 sprint. Chico's Brett Miller surged into the fourth spot with a solid run last Friday night. Yuba City's Korey Lovell is rounding out the top five and doing quite well as this year he became the sole owners of the famed #71L.

Rohnert Park ace Brandon Davis still leads the wingless point battle. However, Tracey's Matt Streeter is now in the second spot and closing. Only 14-points separate the two championship contenders. Grass Valley's Jay Youngman holds a one point lead over Cody Myers for the third spot. Taylor Simas id still holding on the this fifth spot.

Marysville driver Jeff Olschowka is still the man to beat in the pure stocks. He is the defending champion of the track. He is leading Heather Bartlett of Chico by 20 points. Chico's Mike Slightom is only 24 points back of Olschowka and four behind Bartlett. If the top two falter Slightom could be right there. There is only two more nights of championship pure stock racing at Silver Dollar Speedway in 2007. The pure stocks conclude their championship next Friday night.
