He shows up to the front row challenge, takes one slow lap and then him and his side kick Saldana pack it up and leave. If your to scared to run on the dirt then dont even show up to the track!

haha...I knew someone would go there, but I thought it would be sooner!! I would just like to know what happened and if Joey was going to run or if they just parked all the stuff there because of the racing they were going to do yesterday and today.

I thought he would sign autographs, not that I would want one, but I suppose he didnt want to answer 3 million dumb questions at 2 in the morning.

Hopefully someone knows what actually happened, inquiring minds want to know!

For someone like Kasey or even Joe for that matter, there was probably something behind the scenes that brought them to this conclusion. NIETHER IS OF THE MINDSET TO GIVE UP SO EASY.

Do ya think that he was thinking about Carl Edwards while he was assesing track conditions?    I wasn't there but the situation sounded like a high probability of a rough track...I can't blame him one bit.

5 thousand to win or a multimillion dollar contract with budweiser if he is healthty and runs napcar. You do the math. I'm not a big Kahne fan but come one I don't blame him wouldn't you take the bud sponsor?

I don't care that he didn't race, he wasn't gonna be worth watching anyways. But he could have hung around and talked with fans, signed autographs, and such but he didn't. At least he was no where that I saw him. Can you guess how many Dodge #9 shirts I counted last night?

They both up and left. That in and of itself is against the core of what sprint car racing is all about. Being at the track is about that opportunity to get up close to your favorite SPRINT CAR driver, NASCAR star or NOT. When someone high tails it out of there, they are telling the fans that they don't have an interest in staying and hanging out. Now I understand leaving early if you had a bad night and tore up a car or something like that. But that just wasn't the case. If you say you are going to be there. . .be there. Don't run one warm-up lap and take off.

Im not sure why they didnt race last night. Kasey did stay and watch the races from the pit area behind the track all night----he was there when it was over----T-Mac told me that Kasey would be back tonight with his non wing teams and said he will do an autograph session-----maybe he'll run tonight is the rumor around the track------they were fully planning on running-----both cars were there in teh pit area before the rain and at 5PM they were checking things over both cars and talking strategies---I was standing right there----not sure why they didnt run----I can understand Kasey not wanting to risk something happening to him and protecting his health----especially since there was not alot of Outlaw guys running----he didnt even know half the drivers running probably so who knows what couldve happened to him----but Im suprised Joey dodnt run

Whether Kasey was there or not didn't make a bit of a difference for me sticking around. Big deal, some NASCAR driver doesn't wanna play in the dirt!!! Sure the track was a bit rough, but heavy rain will often do that to a dirt track. What were these teams that left early expecting, McCarl to come up with some kind of a miracle fix. He had thousands of fans in the joint, and resceduling would be nearly impossible. I come down to Southern Iowa Sprint Week and wanna watch some racing, I could care less whether I'm watching a bunch of local guys or some hot shots from NASCAR. Credit goes out to all the folks who worked so hard at preparing the track and organizers of this event. Circumstances did not make it easy. Kudos to all the DRIVERS who raced and put on a decent show. Chad Hillier's crew said it best "We got nothin else to do so we wanna race"!!!

oh my god people-------do you forget all the times Kasey has jumped in a sprint car and ran? Several times this season already and several more to come---He is definitely not afraid of the dirt but knew the track wasnt the best and very very rough and also knew thatthe field of drivers werent exactly the normal competition he races against where he knows their talents and respects them and feels safe---He obviously didnt feel comfortable racing with those guys and didnt want to tear up his equipment or himself----give teh guy a break---he loves sprint car racing and dirt track racing------example---prelude to a dream---chili bowl---etc---plus he is running the Knoxville Nationals this week and flying back and forth to New York to qualify and practice his Cup car and still race at Knoxville----The guy is definitely not a joke!!! If he didnt like dirt why would he own non winged teams and Joys team??

i dont hear anyone tearing into drivers like Wayne Johnson, Danny Lasoski, Paul McMahan or any others who left and decided not to run-----they and Kasey knew that there was a good chance they could tear up alot of equipment and possibly injure themselves and it just wasnt worth it that night----It was definitely unfortunate but lay off these guys

I handle the sponsorship for the FRC/UC Events and have first hand knowledge of this. You need to understand 1 thing, Kasey is not paid to show up. Many NASCAR guys would charge a fee, he does it because he likes it. We're lucky enough to get support from him by having his cars here, him racing and doing autographs sessions(all for free). Thanks Kasey!

If you have ever met the guy (regardles of whether you like NASCAR) he stays till the end (last year till way past 1 a.m.). Monday night was crazy, with the pits being on the outside to the track and pit conditions being muddy it was a nightmare to get everything workable. He enjoys being around the people and I'm sure would have preferred no rain and perfect conditions, but it's Iowa and we do the best we can when Mother Nature has other plans. I'm not sure why he didn't race, but am sure he had a good reason.
