CRA SPRINTS HEAD FOR SANTA MARIA SATURDAY;
SPENCER TRIUMPHANT IN PERRIS 30-LAPPER
The Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars return to Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway Saturday night and it couldn’t come at a better time for Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif.
Spencer won at Santa Maria in June and scored his third victory of the season Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. He ranks second in the current USAC/CRA standings behind leader Tony Jones.
Spencer passed Rickie Gaunt on lap 10 and led the final 21 laps at Perris in his Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart Maxim/Shaver to beat Gaunt, Jones, Tyler Brown and Blake Miller.
Three drivers who rank in the “top-10” in USAC/CRA points are still seeking their initial 2007 victories, namely Rickie Gaunt, Rip Williams and David Cardey. All three have second-place feature finishes this year at the PAS.
