What is the biggest cost for racers?  Is it tires, engines, fuel (transporter)?  I suspect the payouts will continue to decline so where could someone hit a home run to help with the cost of racing?  I know in our shop, our biggest cost is tires.  Yeah, motors aren't cheap by any means but once it's spent and spent right, the motor should last a while.  These 2 and 3 tires a week are killing us though.  Especially at over $200 for a right rear now!

Just wanted some thoughts and feedback from others.

I would say the hauler and diesel are a big cost if you travel much at all.  I have never understood some one that lives less than 5 miles from track that is about the only track they race at and they have a giant tractor and trailor.  Someone has to pay for them.  Tires can cost alot if your track seems to eat them up fast.  We  once ate up 2 new tires in a heat race and 2 new tires in feature at Eldon , Iowa and I think feature paid $400 to $500 to win and was called short because people were blowing out tires.  Then we get to engines, heck every thing costs to much.  If you do not do this as a costly hobby you are in trouble.  No one makes money.

Motors and re-builds  are  the biggest cost  , but all is costly , so they have  to make alot  to travel with  lets say  the  WoO , who isn't doing to much to keep there   costs  down  for there teams  that I can see .
