(Oxnard, CA 4/29/14)Ventura Raceway continues its 2014 season this Saturday night May 3, at its Ventura County Fairgrounds facility when we feature our VRA 360 Sprint cars as they continue their racing towards the 2014 championship. Also on tap this week will be the return of the VRA Dwarf Cars, VRA Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, VRA Mod Lites and VRA Sport Compacts. These classes will provide some very exciting racing as the drivers battle to score points in the new season.

So far in 2014 there have been four different winners in five races. Opening night saw Kyle Smith take the win. Tom Hendricks took the win on March 22, Cory Kruseman at the Battle at the Beach Race and Troy Rutherford took the win last week. These and all the rest of the VRA competitors will be trying to add their names to the 2014 winners list this week. Point leader Guy Woodward has not won in the new season and is sure to be going all out this week to ad his name to the list of winners as well. These drivers battle at high speeds around Ventura's 1/5 mile clay oval.

VRA Senior Sprints are back with 2013 series champion Clif Warren here to try for two in a row after taking the win last week. Warren leads Mike Cook, Steve Brown, Wally Pankratz and Chris Meredith in the point race so far in 2014. All these drivers will be here to go for points and glory.

VRA Dwarf cars are back this week with last race Pro winner and 2013 Champion Johnny Conley leading them into competition. In Senior action Mike Lewis will lead the over 45 contingent into competition this weekend. The dwarf car drivers race hard and fast and put on great racing each time they appear.

IMCA Modifieds are also on the card for this week. Last race winner Chris Crompe will be back to try to go for two in a row over the other IMCA drivers from throughout California. Racing so far in 2014 has been outstanding. Point leader Josh Vogt will be here to try to increase his point lead over 2013 champion Robbie Witwer, and past champions Donald Houghton, Jack Parker and challengers Dennis Eckert, Dave Phipps and Brad Prows.

VRA Mod Lite 2013 Champion Ricky Lewis will lead this class into action as he goes for another win. Last race winner George Calvo will be here to try to stop Lewis from claiming another championship. This new and growing class has had some good races and this week should be no exception.

The final class racing this week is the VRA Sport Compacts. This class for four cylinder sedans and pickups has seen close hard fought competition all season long. 2013 Champion Zachary Peterson leads the drivers in this class as they get back to racing this week.

Pit gates open at 12 Noon with front gates opening at 3:00PM. Racing gets under way with warm-up and preliminary events at 3:30 with racing getting under way at 5:30. Admission prices for this event are $15.00 for Adults, $11.00 for Seniors, Military and Students with ID. Kids 12 and under are free.
