It's called the United States Auto Club. Anybody else miss the golden years of SCRA?

Perhaps that more than a few 410 cars were up at Victorville.

I also agree with the other posters concerning USAC. This past Sat night Steve O wasn't running the show and his "helper" Chris M. was on the radio all night. The only thing that he seemed to be interested in was to hurry up and get this over with.
Some of the problems were caused by the condition of the track, some by the drivers and some by USAC. I'm sure there must have also been a full moon. USAC does not seem to understand that they are promoting an ENTERTAINMENT product and people pay good money to see good cars have good races. Just think if a fan in the stands feels this way, what about the racers and the pressure they get in the pits. Somehow, I bet there were some unhappy people in the pits as well.
I really don't think that USAC and their local staff care, but maybe they should, because without the racers and fans, there are no races and no paychecks.

That does not sound good and is a complete opposite of what I observed during Indiana Sprint Week.

I have to agree with 'new-parts' for the most part...look at the teams that did not show last night...the majority were those with lesser budgets. C'mon guys, how is a low car count towards the end of the year USAC's fault?
Cory is still in Indiana...that's 3 cars. The Moose team reportedly didn't get the car together in time. Camarillo's not showing took away 2 cars. Others have been waiting for money and/or parts to continue. The season is winding down...lots of torn up race cars this summer is gonna kill car counts...especially out here, where our drivers race for glory, not to pay the bills.
'Bill' is absolutely correct...it is sad, and it is completely different than what we experienced in Indiana during Sprint Week. The difference out there is that those guys have to show up or they stand no chance of taking home any money to pay their bills. So how is that USAC's fault? The West Coast non-wing sprint car scene has, and always will be, made up of local racers who do it because they love it...not because it's a job. Thus, when times are tough financially, they are forced to stay home, re-group, and come back when they can afford to.
It's that simple.
So again, how could ANY sanctioning body fix that? Our tracks are way too far away to host National points races, so our local heroes will most likely always be "weekend warriors". I admire those who do show up each and every race, or whenever they possibly can, to put on a show for us...because this sport is definitely not cheap for even the most wealthy teams. We should all just be happy we still have a place to go and watch, with the recent closing of so many tracks in this state. Support it while its here or it just may be gone before we know it...

From today's WagsWorld Column
"Remember when a ways back the CRA features paid $4000 to win, $500 to start and the purse was somewhat higher than today's current one? Remember when there was no home track and the CRA was a traveling club, yet the purses remained high? Remember when people didn't like the Presidentof the club and bitched so much there was a change and a new direction to go in? Remember how there were more cars and everything was cheaper including gas, fuel, parts motors, race cars, pit admissions, general admissions and on an on? Remember when there was no entry fee and sometimes there was tow money? Remember Frank Lewis? Is it better or wors now, you tell e and is everybody happy! Well I'll be."
