Sammy looks bad this year again, he can't qualify anymore which used to be a strongpoint of his and in the a mains
he can't pass a car and like last night he is going backwards in the a mains now. This is not typical of him and if his efforts stay the same my question is why the hell would he want to do this anymore and tarnish his abilities like this to the public eye and lshow such bad performance??? Why would Todd put up with this out of Sammy? Cause he is Sammy? I'm a fan of Sammy but I am a fan of him going home rather then looking washed up like this cause it's hard to stomach. You Sammy fans will chime in and try to help explain but I'm sure you haters will begin to take your shots

I can't weigh in on what it would be like to travel around the country and drive a sprint car at my age but I know what it feels like to drag it out in the morning. I'm a few years older but I'm looking forward to not having to get up and go to work in the morning after forty some years. At this age the skills decline differently with some than they do with others. With some it's gradual and with others it can seemingly happen overnight.
With that said about the aging process none of us know the circumstances. Spinning, hitting the wall, that's the nature of sprint car racing, it' happens to all of them at one timer or another. We don't know if there they're just off on the setup or if it's something else going on.
Part of being older is having seen a lot of famous sprint car drivers since my firt time out around 1960. Nobody drives these things forever. I'm not a Sammy cheerleader or a Sammy hater but I've been around long enough to see the bigger picture as far as aging sprint car drivers go. I admire Sammy's ability and what he has accomplished and I think he's still got what it takes to win. I'll prefer to sit back and let these things work themselves out. The only constant is that I'll continue to have fun and enjoy the races.

Just stating the obvious. All we can do is hang on for the ride and see what happens.

Steve couldn't drive the last two years, according to a lot of people....now look at him.
Sammy just has to work through some stuff and figure things out. Testing for four hours, burning up three sets of tires, and throwing everything at the car proves he is trying to figure things out. Just takes a little time. But, as a huge Sammy fan this is painful to watch.

I was a huge Johnny Unitas fan at one time. Sports heroes come and go. Personally I hope that they get things figured out and the results improve. Every time one of these guys retires us older guys lose one more braggin' point.

My guess is all the #stillwinning arrogance from 2012 has caught up to him.

Time to put Terry back in the car!
You can't be serious.
Sammy has run all six of the WoO races with an average finish of 13.8
Terry has run five with an average finish of 15.6
Yeah right, put Terry in the car.
(and I am NOT a Sammy fan!)

wow, a last lap episode leaves fans in rubble over Sammy's aging /retireing, really?,Just a short while ago he gave us one of the largest Nationals show in ages .. so he's all washed up then, I watched SK in Volusia this year and his winning night you would swear he was a 30 yr old novice driver on top of his game, he looked amazingly well, with that being said he bounced off the wall the prior night almost looking like a rookie, in a drivers eyes your only as good as your last race, when your competitive you carry those words to heart, Now, this isnt SK or Sammys first time around the block in theses things, they have seen the ups and downs of the sport they have survived it, and they have rolled with the punches, , Fact is, they have made a career out of driving sprintcars, if you have a bad day at work, lets say your a A/C mechanic/ tech, your parts are not in for three of the clients your doing work for, its 114 degrees out, coolers are going down left and right and you cant seem to fix one of them, should you retire? afterall the biz is tuff, the pressure is on,I wish i could hit the panic button ,select a different career, as a appretice/beginner/rookie and just start fresh with my current salary,.. isnt that normal? If SS was sidelined and hung it up, we all would miss him, bodies need rivalries regardless of age, Im by no means a SS fan, but to wish a retirement is a bit pricey of a option.. I understand disapointment when routing for a favorite that cant seem to catch a break, its heartbreaking being a blood fan of those type teams/drivers, but, victory is sooo much sweeter when you hang on and dont let go.

To me, Sammy is the 2nd best sprint car driver of all time. I believe Joe Montana is the 2nd best quarterback of all time. They are about the same age. I am thinking that if Joe Montana came out and started an NFL game this year for the niners he would look really, really bad. Give the guy a break--he's not a spring chicken.

It seem since brian bloomfield joined the team last year or the year before. Sammy has tried to figure it out. It is possible that he is over think it?
