another item to keep in mind is where you commonly (comfortably ) wear your raceciever, I see alot of guys wear it tucked into thier suit, I havent sucessfully pulled this location off, I like the idea, just cant seem to find a good location for it, i attach mine to the headrest of my seat, still not convinced that is the best spot for it, the idea of the wires and reciever being with the driver is more accomidating, again ive ruined a couple ear sets just by jerking on them when I needed to exit the car. (i didnt care) check the avalibility or bulkyness of the unit to accomidate your reciever where you are in habit of wearing it.  just keep it in mind..

DirtDevil,

I ran into a similar situation myself.  I wasn't comfortable having it on the outside just incase something knocked it off or broke it.  Also I did not want to have it on the side of my suit where the seat belts ride.  What I had done was take some of the extra Nomex material that comes with my seat insert kit and had my mom, who was a seamstress for over 20-30 years actually sew a pocket in the center of my under shirt to put the raceiever.  It is right below where my Hybrid connects and between both sholder harnesses, bascially right below my rib cage.

This way I do not feel it there, and there is no concern of anything getting snagged or broken in any way, nor do I have to worry about it digging into my chest when I tighten the belts down.

I know Hinchman, and most likely a few other places offer an option to have a Raceceiver pocket built into the outside of your arm

Ozzie, JCW,  ive thought about both locations , ive though of just about everywhere, and i havent convincingly found the exact location for such a small piece of equipment,on my helmet, knee, shoulder, waist, chest, I have a friend that also had his wife sew the pocket into the undershirt, it seems to work well for him, i was just afraid of the chest area (his location is higher than yours JCW )getting pounded by a rock or interfeering with my DeFender harness location,  it sounds like yours is closer to your belly area, I might have to research that a bit more and see if my smaller frame will allow it to be there, Ozzie, i thought of that too, but im afraid it will get tangled in my shoulder harness if i need to get out, and i will (in panic) throw the belt over the wire, not nessessarly avoiding my current location woes, I finally purchased a good set of earpieces that I like, im trying to keep them if I can, not the $12 el -cheapoes that fit like crap anyway, i thried the molded ones that was just a mess that didnt work very well for me,  I like to unplug the radio as in staging my crew likes to chatter with me, (usually crap i already know,  so, i just shake my head, lol, boy im glad they havent asked to change gears, bars, shocks ect, lol )as many drivers kno if the radio is squaking you cant hear a dam thing, so thus a spot close to unplug would be convienant, I have fastened the reciever in place with both the black(optional) case that clips together in two pieces, and ive used the clear pressure clip type that comes with the unit (for like belt clips ect) ive fastened both to the seat with standard (two) black 1/4" wide zipties, I have two recievers, one for backup, ive never had the reciever become disloged in six/seven years of use, ive had some pounders of wrecks too. surprizingly i havent had a problem with it becoming loose/break free, i too thought i was taking a gamble, by habit i still place a piece of tape over it, even just for dust-dirt protection,  anyhow, good advice , good luck all!

i should explain better , my reciever is located behind my headrest(halo) on a butler seat, its located on the left side free of rocks n such hitting it, i cannot reach it "easily" to unplug it, my crew has to plug it in, the wire will occasionally catch the belts, but, stays clear of my hands, tearoffs, ect  the wire droops from the hieght of my headrest behing my head , Ozzie, i also have shoulder guards on my seat, thus the second problem with that location, i suppose one could fish the wire under the belt, but fear of the earpieces becoming pulled are a problem,
