A.J. Foyt OK after mishap: A.J.
Foyt [former Indy.Cup driver, former Cup owner ands current IRL team
owner], 72, cheated death once again in a lifetime chronicled by close
escapes. Late Thursday afternoon his bulldozer plunged sideways into a
lake as the bank gave way under the 35,000 lb. machine. He had been
working the dirt on the lake's edge which was about three feet deep at
that location, that is, until the bank gave way. For the man who
survived one of the most dangerous periods in motorsports (although not
without some telltale scars) in his 40-year career as a race driver,
Foyt has been sorely tempting fate as a rancher lately. "It was such a
helpless feeling when that dirt broke away and I was going down and
down," said Foyt, who estimates the bulldozer dropped upside down into
the lake about 15 feet. "The dozer had a steel cage on it which
probably saved my life," said Foyt, "because without it, the dozer
would have crushed me. But the cage also made it hard to escape. I had
to crawl through the front of it and it was hard to do under water with
all my clothes on and with my bum legs and all. I'll be honest, I was
panicked a little bit. If I hadn't made it to the top of the dozer,
they would never have found me because it was completely under water. I
didn't want to swim to the bank 'cause it was covered in vines and
steep and I was already out of breath from getting out of the dozer. I
knew I'd get too tired trying to haul my big butt outta there. But as I
was calling for help, I saw a water moccasin [snake] swim by. I started
splashing like hell then. After about 15 minutes someone heard me and
stopped to help." Once on land, Foyt, who did not go to the hospital,
spent the next four hours trying to get his bulldozer out of the lake.
Three wreckers later, the dozer was finally pulled out. He plans to
have it trucked to his race shop today.(A.J. Foyt Racing PR)(8-3-2007)

Is this the same dozer he was on when he drove into the Killer Bees?

Couldn't happen to a better person....... I've had no respect for him since he attacked Arie Luyendyk from behind in Texas. Self righteous fat-ass........

Arie and AJ let it go a long time ago. That night all eyes were on Tony Stewart and there were no indications of Arie even being on the lead lap. Arie would have won anyway as fast as he was yet no one knew he was even in the ballpark.
I listened to AJ talk Billy Boat to the finish and Ken Squier talked it up over the pa system. Pride and emotions were high when two dirtboys had made good in the Indy cars.
MAYBE YOU'RE A SELF RIGHTEOUS FAT ASS. Better get that checked out.

Checkmate, huh? I wasn't aware we were playing chess. I have a few observations about your retort to my post.
- Billy Boat is a good driver and is usually fast in whatever he drives. I've had the opportunity to meet him several times. That being said, as far as "dirt boys doing good", They DIDN'T WIN.
- You said "Arie would have won anyways". Arie DID win, there is no anyways to it. Billy Boat was two laps down. Did Foyt or Boat really think no one would notice?
- If you knew me, which you don't, you would know that I am as far from self righteous as you can get. If I make a mistake, or don't know something, or am wrong, I'll admit it.
- I've seen alot of your replys to posts, some of which I don't agree with, but I have never mounted an attack on you.
- My comment about "self righteous fat-ass", is my opinion. I have many other opinions that I don't always make public. If my opinion bothers you, then you probably need to direct your attention elsewhere. If my opinion was directed at you, I could understand.

1. I agree with you
2. Even USAC which did the scoring didn't notice due to a computer malfunction. There was no cheating.
3. I only said that to piss you off, how'd I do?
4.Even I don't agree with my replies sometimes after I've had a few hours to think about it. I find I'm wrong every day.
5. AJ is not here to defend himself and he has been known to be crazy, heady and arrogant. A typical ass to be tolerated. But he has been to where few ever get to go and he typifies the American attitude that "even if you are a crazy nut, you can still get somewhere if you don't know how to give up." Look at what he drove in the times he did it, the friends he lost, the races he won, the diversity he displayed.
Buuuuuuutttttttttttttttt, just in case you find me, how bigga boy are ya?

Oh by the way, I was there in turn one. I saw Tony get passed by Arie (IN TURN 3)even though I didn't know who he was. (He won the Indy 500 a week before but we were all watching Tony). Tony blows, smacks the wall, Boat wins(so we thought), We saw a ruckus on the bigscreen in victory lane(oh well, we knew we'd read about it the next day). Fireworks were going off as we left. I know what everybody except Aries TEAM was thinking as to who won. I WAS THERE.

I saw the race on tv and about 100 replays of Foyts c-s attack on Arie.
I'm not looking for you. But if you find me, I'm not very big at all. A small child could whoop me.
I'm not pissed off at all. That takes alot.
Why aren't you at the track? (I'm working, I race when I get a day off. Usually saturday and at Meeker.)
It's not HOW fast you go, but how you GO fast.

I call for a truce.
Possibly a communication breakdown here. USAC gets the blame here from what I can see. They do what they want , damn the torpedoes. We love em, we hate em. I believe you when you point out that the TV side of it knew Arie was leading and won. On the track side we thought ,as well as the USAC scorers, Billy won it. Much embarrassment came of it all. The USAC name was out after that. Arie was faster than hell that night, but we were caught up in the Tony show. Thousands left unaware of the true outcome.
I'm working too. I hardly ever get to go to the races anymore.

Typical A.J. thats exactly why he is my HERO, and why I named my Son after him. He's one tough S.O.B. I've been a major fan of A.J. since his days in open wheel dirt cars, Indy cars, even when he drove NASCAR. A.J. in my book is absolutley the best of the best, and always will be no questions. What has always impressed me most about A.J. ( other than his talent ) is his ability to be candid with the Media and tell it like it is.
