So, we know that one of the reasons that Danica and Stenhouse get along so well is that they have interest that the other person does not.   Stenhouse takes Danica to dirt tracks and motocross events.   Danica takes Stenhouse to fine dining establishments and wine tastings.

We know that Stenhouse had been involved with Sprint cars his whole life and is involved in Jason Johnson's program.  (owner/sponsor)

So, if Danica decided that she wanted to be an owner/sponsor of a  driver on the ASCS tour to compete along side of Jason Johnson, would you then like her?  Would having a GO Daddy #10 on the circuit be something that you would support?  What if she decided to pick an up and coming female driver?

I didn't have anything against her to start with, im not a fan but dont dislike her. I would appreciate her bringing another team to the table just as much as I would anybody else if they brought in a new team . Not sure she'd bring in a woman that is not a top notch driver  if it was her $  being spent on wadded up race cars.  If godaddy threw  a million $s at it maybe she would. But  this is bit of a strech on hypothetical.

 No kidding?

I've thought this whole thread, both of them, had brought on more than just a few off the wall comments and this bullshit should have been the thread killer; but it's not.

I don't have anything against her.  I just feel she is occupying the seat of a GREAT race car that could be much better utilized by a good driver.  She was top 10 material in Indy but she will NEVER be that in NASCAR.  I see she now has over 1M followers on TWITTER.  Had no idea there were that many TWITS!

Always liked the " King ".  In 1967 he won 27 races.  He had 18 poles.  He started in 1st or 2nd in all but 4 races.  The worst he started was 6th.  His average start that year was 2.4.  He was a good qualifier.  He better stay on the porch.

I just wonder how the KING would fare today with no cheating?  You cannot tell me they didn't cheat every week.  EVERYONE cheated the 'grey areas' back then, and they were the best at it.....

I say bring on the sponsorship.  If she wants to support a female driver, go for it.  There are talented women our there racing now that deserve a shot at the big time.  It couldn't hurt to draw attention to our sport and bring in some additional dollars and fans.

No reason to hate Danica here.  She got the sponsorship to race and that's what it takes today.  Hate the system, not the racer.  No doubt there are many more racers that are better than she is.  I think it is safe to say that there are many better drivers than the backmarkers in NASCAR that aren't there because they don't have the money.

And anyway, she's better to look at than Ricky.  Plus, the youtube videos of her throwing temper tantrums are hilarious!

And last, all the attention she gets is good marketing.  For those of us that don't think Jr. is the sh**, we get tired of all the coverage he gets when he is driving in 30th place.  Congrats to Jr. on the 500 win - awesome!

The marketing power of Danica instantly puts her near the top of NASCAR's most lucrative drivers, if not the absolute top. Smoke knows this and that's why she's in a SHR car.

watching the 500 last night, she was definitely a top 10 car until she got taken out (anyone that objectively looked at that wreck knows she was collected in it).

Now, as far as her driving ability goes do I think she is a top 10 driver?  No, I don't.  However she is in top 10 equipment so therefore she will probably have a few top 10's this year and may surprise everyone (sounds like Harvick is impressed with her ability if you listen to DW on Fox).

NASCAR is about $$$ and who can bring it to the table to get a ride (very few drivers are there based on ability alone).  The great drivers can obtain sponsors after the fact (their talent brings the $$$ - ie: Kenseth, Gordon, Stewart) while others can bring $$$ and get a ride.

Sad part is that there are some quality drivers that are left for teh start and park teams that never get to showcase their true talent.

Sadly, dirt track racing is going this direction now too.  It's all about how much $$ can you bring to the car owners....

Cheating aside today drivers need to understand the technology of these machines and know how to deal with the public.  I'm guessing since Richard comes from the first generation that was challenged to so something as simple as programming a VCR he would get a fail on the tech.  After his comments last week we can give him another fail on common sense and dealing with the media.  I'm thinking that he wouldn't look very good scantily clad in a Super Bowl commercial so we can give him a fail on that as well.  Danica went over a million followers on Twitter proving she's got the tech know how and she's attracting female fans to NASCAR and giving little girls a dream to shoot for.  We'll grade her higher than Richard on all of that as well.

Petty wins the "I used to be a champion back in the days of skinny tires so I can spew sexist insults and nobody can stop me" award.
