Is the light growing dim on BCRA? The midget counts have been down for years, the only time they really get a decent car count is on a combo show with USAC. midget lites have gone from at least 20 cars to having promoters canceling their dates due to poor car counts. Can it be saved??

I heard that BCRA lowered their age minimum to 14 for the Midget Lites. This class is really an inexpensive class to run, they dont wear out tires and the newer engines are only 2-3k and they are fast stock.Best thing is you get to run on all the sprint car tracks.

The lite's are an awesome class... lap times when i was involved a few years ago were just as fast as the full midgets at marysville. and at not even half the price! BCRA is (or was, it's been 3 years since i left) a great org. with alot of great people involved. I think the midget-lite's need to be re-branded as mini-sprint's, which is really what they are, and maybe get more recognition as a stepping stone into full size sprints. Just look at some of the names who have come from the lite's. Or for all of the bench racers who want to get on the track, your just a small investment(in racing terms) away from running most of the tracks your watching sprint cars at.

I wonder who runs the microsprint organization that races at Sacramento Raceway Park every so often: maybe those guys could join the BCRA fields and help the car count. Their cars look similar to the winged midget lites, though they have two different classes (restricted and unrestricted). The one Wednesday in May that I saw those microsprints, they had 21 unrestricted and 7 restricted there.

BCRA comes across as a much more professional organization than the group at SRP though.

The class that runs in Sac are 600cc (smaller cars) the midget lites run between1000cc-1200cc and are the same size as a full midget. They also have different weight rules depending on engine size.
