PURSE LISTED BELOW

And then one night, a real cool dude with cash in his pocket adds $100 to each position. And there is joy in Mudville. And even more smiles in Claytown. Good start. Hope you do well.

Never understand why promoters penalize the 12 teams who actually made the effort to come and support the show by cutting their pay. The promoter is already not having to fork out 8 positions of pay. just my thoughts.

Crawford County is doing a good job. No, Crawford County is doing an excellent job. In the six events that we raced and I have the results for, we would have earned $800 more. But the 1,900 mile round trip each week end makes it difficult. Based on our average showing for all our races, we would have earned $2, 400 more for the year. We'll just run out of money sooner than our friends in Iowa.

Is that Des Moines purse from 1994 or 1984?

I see part of the racesaver idea has already gone by the wayside. I thought the racesaver program was supposed to pay the last place finisher 1/2 of what the winner got?

You have to have a good car count to put on a good show for fans. I think that if car count becomes really good you will see a bigger purse at both tracks

And $75 will get you good car count? And if $75 gets you, they'll raise the purse? Like, to $80?

The RaceSaver organization has some good ideas, and has certainly done a great job at growing sprint car racing through the 305s, no doubt. The 50% rule, however, seems to have gone by the wayside a couple of years ago.
We started a local organization here in the greater Memphis, TN area at the end of 2012. When we 'sell' a show, we try to stick to a 25% rule. That is that our races will pay 25% of the winner's share to 'start'. Typically, this year most shows will be $600 to win/ $150 to start. Keep in mind, though, this is in a market where our guys have been running the same local track for $500 to win/$50 to start for the past 6-7 years. $50 to start is ridiculous in my opinion.

Agreed....on both counts.
1. Yes, you need car count to put on a good show
2. When you cut pay because "only 12" cars showed up to race, the promotor is penalizing the cars that are there SUPPORTING his track. (WRONG thing to do in my opinion)
The guys that didn't come support the track on a low count night don't get penalized! Here is - in MY OPINION - how to maintaing good car count and penalize the right "offenders". - Rather than penalizing the guys that are there to race, reward them with the 'full purse' payout. When those that didn't show do come back, dock THEM a percentage of that night's earnings. I'm sure this will meet with a lot of criticizm, but here's the thing....docking those who were are there to support you doesn't make much sense, and FYI, just because someone has been doing something the same way for the last 20 years, DOESN'T automatically guarantee they've been doing it RIGHT for the last 20 years.

I may be looking at this all wrong, but if you paid the full purse for when 12 or less cars show up, wouldn't that send the "message" to those that aren't in attendance that you "care about them" and they may start supporting you because (if they'll pay out the full purse when only 10 guys show up, maybe if 20 or 25 of us start showing up, they'll give the purse a "bump" if we start putting "butts in the seats".
But, let's just go with "the way it's always been" and penalize those that do show up and make them think about running your event or one at a another track the following weekend when the purses are comparable.
how a team fells they are treated (even percieved treatment), makes a difference on where they race.
There are drivers (and teams) that don't race in their hometown, but will drive 5 hours to race elsewhere.

THIS GUY GETS IT!!!! You're absolutely correct. Some racetrack owners just cannot grasp the concept of 'rewarding' drivers rather than 'penalizing' drivers. They'll scratch their heads every time over this, and then wonder why their car counts drop and why someone will drive 3-4-5 hours to go race somewhere else.

Waiting to see that list. Local 305 owner/driver that drives 3-4-5 hours to go race another weekly show somewhere else. Just want to see the purses and the distance from home to the two tracks.

There are all kinds of drivers (in every division) that don't race anywhere near their home base.
Perfect example is Clint Garner, travels 5 hours each way to race @ Knoxville every week, yet the hauler is less than 15 minutes from Huset's all week and he has raced there less than a handful of times over the past 5 years.
