Tulsa Oklahoma (January 12, 2014) – The start of the 13th season of sprint car competition is drawing near for the Oil Capital Racing Series and the anticipation of an exciting year is being felt across the heartland. OCRS welcomes the Longdale Speedway to the 2014 sprint car tour with a Saturday April 12th event date. Longdale Speedway is a new ½-mile racetrack located in Longdale Oklahoma, which is approximately 100 miles northwest of Oklahoma City and 55 miles southwest of Enid. The racetrack is owned by area businessman Jessie Hoskins, who has tabbed Jack Hammock to handle the promoting duties for the facility. Hammock once served as the announcer for the Enid Speedway for multiple seasons and this will be his initial voyage into promoting, but it will be with quality support.

“We are excited and looking forward to racing on this new track,” commented Hammock. “Jessie has done a great job in getting the track built and we will also have Martin Bond on the staff as the track manager. Martin is a former promoter of Enid Speedway and he will be a good man to assist us in getting the speedway running as it needs to be. This will be a team effort from all of us. In having sprint cars at our track, we are looking to bring in a different fan base (in addition to stock car fans) and show them what a good track and show we are going to have.”

OCRS president Barry Grabel echoed the enthusiasm for Longdale Speedway: “In an industry where we are working diligently to maintain the racetracks we currently have, it’s a welcomed sight to see someone like Jessie Hoskins step up and build racetracks for the racing industry. You often hear of tracks being built but in 90% of the cases, nothing ever happens. We have been watching with a great deal of interest in the developments of the Longdale project. The efforts that have been put forth along with the people behind it, make this a very interesting development. We look forward in working with the staff at Longdale Speedway and providing a product that area race fans will come to embrace. We will now have another market venue to show race fans what so many others see when OCRS visits their racetracks.”

The 2014 OCRS season is scheduled to begin at the Brill Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 29th in Meeker, Oklahoma. As with 2013, the series will kick off with a wingless event at BMS. Harli White, the 2013 OCRS champion, won the season opener last year. In all, OCRS will embark on 12 racetracks in three states (Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri). Additional dates are being considered and will be announced pending their developments.
