CRA CHASE RESUMES SATURDAY AT THE PAS

Monday, 30 July 2007

The battle for the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Championship resumes this Saturday at the Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and Tony Jones will try to protect his sizeable point lead.

Jones had sprinted to a 177-point margin over runner-up Mike Spencer prior to the recent "break" to allow the CRA vets to compete in USAC's Lucas Oil "Indiana Sprint Week." Jones' four CRA victories this season include three at the Perris oval.

Jones is hoping to become only the second driver to win three consecutive USAC/CRA feature events. Damion Gardner actually won four in a row in 2005, then came back to win another three in a row later that same season.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA SERIES RETURNS TO ACTION ON SKIRT NIGHT AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(JULY 31, 2007, PERRIS, CA) After more than a month off, the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will return to action in race presented by Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply this Saturday night, August 4th, at Perris Auto Speedway when the track hosts it’s most popular promotion – Skirt Night. Any fan, female or male, who wears a skirt, dress or moo-moo, will get in for just $5.00 and will be treated to $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00 beers. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.

“Skirt Night is crazy,” Oval Entertainment President Don Kazarian, said with a laugh from behind his desk. “Last year we had 50 or 60 men show up wearing dresses or skirts and we had all of them line up for a beauty contest at intermission. Then some rather large, bearded guy shows up wearing a purple moo-moo. He easily won the pageant and served as trophy girl at the end of the night. The photo showing the look on Damion Gardner’s face when he realized that guy was his trophy girl is priceless.”

The series took a couple of weeks off to allow teams to travel to Indiana Sprint Week and was supposed to have been in action last Saturday night at King’s Speedway in Hanford, California. However, that race was postponed. Thus, the last time Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars hit the track was at The PAS on July 4th. Superstar and current series point leader Tony Jones of Norco, California won that race and will be looking for his third straight series victory on Saturday. His four wins on the year is best on the circuit. Heading into Saturday’s race, Jones, who is also known as the “Open Wheel Cowboy,” holds a commanding 177-point lead in the standings over Temecula, California’s Mike Spencer. “Super Rickie” Gaunt of Torrance, California, “Showtime” Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, California and Marion, Indiana’s Scotty Weir round out the top five in the championship chase.

Saturday’s breathtaking Sprint Car extravaganza will include qualifying, four 10 lap knock down and drag em’ heat races, a 12 lap B-Main and a ferocious fight to the finish 30 lap A-Main event. Oh yeah, some hot looking ladies in skirts and dresses will be on hand along with some skirt wearing guys who should have known better!

Anyone wishing more information could contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), approximately one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go two miles east to the fairgrounds.

Hot August Nights at Silver Dollar Speedway Kick Off with Miller Glass and Kids Bike Night
by Troy Hennig

CHICO, CA (7-30-07) - The final four Feather Falls Casino point championship nights all happen in the month of August. This Friday night, August 3, the thunder of racing returns to the speedway as the 410 sprint cars, dirt modifieds and wingless sprints all will participate in round number 18. The night of racing will be sponsored by Miller Glass of Chico located at 745 Cherry St. This is the second year in a row that Miller Glass has sponsored an event at Silver Dollar Speedway.

Tonight will also serve as kids bike night at the races. Don't forget to bring your bicycle to the fairgrounds. Pullins Cyclery located at 8th & Main in downtown Chico is donating a free BMX bicycle to one lucky young fan. All kids 11 and under will be admitted free into the race track. Once through the front grandstand gates the kids will receive a coupon good for one free popcorn and coca-cola. They will also receive a ticket for the raffle drawing of the BMX bicycle that will take place later in the night. Also during the night the racing will stop and the children will take their own bicycles and get to race on the Silver Dollar Speedway.

The front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Racing is slated to start at 7:30. Adult price is $10.00. Junior and Senior prices are $8.00. Children 11 and under will be admitted free.

Miller Glass has had a long relationship with Silver Dollar Speedway. Miller Glass is promoted on the side of Mike Sohnrey and his #0 dirt modified. Going into the racing action Sohnrey sits in the seventh spot of the points but he has only competed in nine events. During those night races he has won three of them. The leader is Richard Papenhausen of Chico. Papenhausen has four wins and a 38 point lead over Darin Ruley.

Chico's Stephen Allard is no the leader of the point series heading into this Friday night's race. Yet, the leader Jonathan Allard, has left Chico and will be racing in Iowa the next two weeks. Stephen will gain from his younger brothers exit and assume the point lead. Chasing him is Oroville's Sean Becker. The two are separated by 39 points with four races to go. Placerville driver Andy Gregg is next in the point battle. This is his first full season at Chico and leads Korey Lovell by 21-points for the fourth spot. Lovell, from Yuba City, is also campaigning as the car owner.

The closest battle involves the wingless sprint division. Rohnert Park driver Brandon Davis leads Grass Valley driver Jay Youngman by a mere 13-points. Both drivers have battled all year for the top spot in the points. Cody Myers sits in third and just won his first main event the previous Friday night. Following Myers in Matt Streeter of Tracey. Streeter has three wins on the season. Rounding out the top five is Taylor Simas. Simas has netted one win this year at Chico.

PRESS RELEASE, PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY, PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA
FROM THE OFFICE OF JOHN PADJEN MOTORPORTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2007

Civil War Series returns home to Placerville Speedway for Food-4-Less night Saturday

PLACERVILLE,CA – This Saturday night the 2007 El Dorado County New Car Dealer Association racing season continues with the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series. This event will be the 10th round of competition for the series that visits five different California race tracks for a total of 15 events during the year.

During Saturday’s event, John Padjen Motorsports will continue to show their gratitude to the community that supports auto racing in El Dorado County. The evening is being titled “Food-4-Less Night at the Races” and will welcome some 100 associates of the local grocery store as Padjen’s special guest. Throughout the year, John Padjen Motorsports has been honoring those who sponsor and support racing. Much like the members of the El Dorado County New Car Dealers Association, Food-4-Less has been a top contributor to the community contingency program at Placerville Speedway for the past three racing seasons.

A division of Nugget Markets, Food-4-Less is owned and operated by the Stille Family. In 1926, company founder Mack Stille advocated that, ‘We are here for our neighbors just as they have been here for us. There is only one race in the world: the human race.” Little did Stille know back then that Nugget Markets would one day have a Food-4-Less located in Cameron Park that would support its neighboring race track.

Today, Stille’s vision still holds for Nugget Markets and Food-4-Less. Located in Cameron Park, the local location is a popular stopping point for race teams on their way to Placerville Speedway as they stock up on food and beverages for the night to come, a commodity that costs teams thousands of dollars a year. Thanks to Kate Stille and store director Susie Rupley, drivers and fans are often recipients of valuable gift cards for products through random random drawings and program presentations.

“One of my greatest joys is giving back to the community; at Food 4 Less we love sponsor events,” says a statement from Rupley who is involved with many community sponsorships in El Dorado County including the Annual Cameron Park Fireworks Display and the livestock auction at the El Dorado County Fair.”

This season, Food 4 Less set the bar when it came to contributing to the community contingency program at Placerville Speedway. Prior to the season nearly $3000 in product gift cards that were awarded in various methods during the racing season. In addition to the successful lucky program prizes, several of the supplied gifts contributed to the benefit raffle and fundraiser for Sprint Car driver Billy Sellers. On opening night at the speedway Sellers was seriously injured in an accident that fractured his spine in three places. Thanks to the generosity of Food 4 Less and a number of community businesses nearly $15,000 was raised in a benefit drawing to assist Sellers with living expenses during his recovery.

“We are honored to have Food 4 Less and Nugget Markets as one of our community partners,” said Placerville Speedway Communications Director Bill Sullivan. “They have gone well beyond the call of duty with this program and I know it is greatly appreciated by many of our drivers and fans. We look forward to continuing this great relationship for years to come and welcome them on this very special night.”

Entering Saturday’s event, Andy Forsberg of Auburn continues to lead the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War point standings. Forsberg recently captured his first victory of the 2007 racing season during the Petaluma Speedway event. With the win, the driver known as “Mr. Excitement” brought his top five finish mark to a total of seven and extended his once single digit point lead to 28-points.

Three time Twin Cities Speedway champion Colby Wiesz of Colfax is now second in the point standings. Wiesz is also a one time winner this year with a victory at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Brett Rollag of Rohnert Park continues to grace the top three, sitting just 32-points behind the leader and 28-points ahead of former series champion Greg DeCaires.

DeCaires won the series title in 2005 and is the defending Placerville Speedway track champion. The Elk Grove native is recently on a success streak with three feature victories at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, including the Mark Forni Memorial, an event where sponsored bonuses made the victory worth $5,000.

Placerville driver Andy Gregg rounds out the top five in the standings. Gregg has had a strong season in Placerville’s weekly series, the Friday night series at Silver Dollar Speedway and the Civil War campaign where he has earned a feature win and three top five finishes. Former two time series champion Mike Henry of Sacramento is one notch out the top five in sixth place.

Placerville Speedway will open at 5:00 on Saturday with warm ups starting at 5:30 followed by qualifying at 6:30 and heat races to follow. All seating is general admission. Adult tickets are $15, juniors are $10, children $4 and under six are admitted for free. An early arrival to the speedway is suggested and no seating is reserved.

For additional information on this event contact the track business office at 916-969-7484 or log on to www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com.

DATELINE BAKERSFIELD, CA

HOMETOWN BOYS TO CHALLENGE SCRA LEADERS
BY Dan Fleisher

It’s time to show off in front of the local fans and that’s exactly what “Bakersfield Boys” Rusty Carlile, John Iturriria, Matt Day, and Ron Tjaarda hope to do this Saturday night when SCRA 360 Wingless Sprint Cars return to Bakersfield Speedway for their second appearance of 2007.

Carlile, who sits third in the season’s point chase with 596, behind Peter Murphy (739) and Davey Pombo (650), has been consistent all year, complying eight top-five finishes in nine outings, including two seconds, two thirds, three fourths and a fifth. He is eager to move up the latter with a victory in the 30-lap feature. Iturriria has improved each time out and is seeking to crack the top-10 in points. He currently sits 12th with 239 markers. Day will be making only his fourth start of the season but feels extremely comfortable on the smaller 1/3-mile clay track compared to Kings Speedway’s 3/8-mile facility, SCRA’s home track, and hopes to bring smiles to the faces of his family and local supporters. Tjaarda will appearing for only the third time and is looking for quality seat time.

Meanwhile, Murphy and Pombo, who between them have captured the last eight main events, look to extend their dominance. Murphy has won five straight at Kings while Pombo has recorded three wins during the season including the last stop at Bakersfield on May 12.
Other featured players include 16-year-old Michael Faccinto, who is fresh off a second-place finish at Kings on July 21, and other teenage rivals John Niggli, Justyne Hamblin, Myles Bishop, Adam Frith-Smith and Jace VanderWeerd. Veterans Jeff Gardner, Richard Harvey Jr., Clark Templeman, Albert Pombo and Steve Conrad hope to slow down the rookie onslaught.

A large turnout of drivers are expected to vie for the purse and honors, and will compete in three or four heat races, a possible “B” main, the exciting six-lap Passing Masters Dash and the feature.

NASCAR Racing Plus Boots & Bikinis at Madera Speedway

The action at Madera Speedway will be hot both on and off the track this Saturday, August 4 as the "Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West" hosts a big NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series program on KISS Country "Boots & Bikini" Night!

Highlighting this Saturday's five division program will be the Western Late Models as they do battle in the round #2 of the six race "Chase to the Championship" that will determine the 2007 Madera Speedway track champion. The 75-lap Western Late Model feature will pay $1,500 to the winner.

Last Saturday's Western Late Model feature produced some of the most exciting and intense racing of the season as Mark Holeman, a 21-year-old engineering student from Los Altos, and racing legend Harry Belletto, the former three-time Stockton 99 track champion from Modesto, battled it out for the win. Following a late race restart the two touched going into turn three, causing both to hit the concrete wall and giving another 21-year old rising star, Ross Strmiska of Stockton, his second straight win.

As a result of last Saturday's race, Strmiska moves to within 11 points (100 to 89) of Holeman. A host of other drivers are still in the hunt including Stockton's Joey Stearns of Stockton (80 points), Trevor
Schlundt of Clovis (70) and Justin Philpott of Tracy (53) who round out the top five in the standings.

Strmiska's back to back wins have also catapulted him up in both the national and state NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing series standings as well. He now sits in the 80th spot nationally and second in the California rankings behind Irwindale Raceway's Rip Michels, the 2006 NASCAR Southwest Series champion.

Also racing on this Saturday's action packed card will be the American Limited Stock Cars (ALSC), Modified Super Toyotas (MST), 360 Super Modifieds and Mini Cup.

Stockton's Donny Darter has controlled the ALSC class all season long with nine wins in ten starts. Madera's Shon "Woody" Woods holds a narrow 218 to 176 lead over fellow hometown driver Jeff Doran in the MST division while Bakersfield's David Tuey and Madera's Lance Tatro sit in a flat footed tie for the lead in the 360 Super Modified class.

There will be plenty of fun off the track as well at this Saturday's KISS Country "Boots & Bikini" Night. The special entertainment will include gaggles of girls in bikinis, live music featuring Ruff Kutt, the Chiks
From the Sticks and Rockin' Ron Pestana, a best boots contest plus a post race bikini contest with $500 going to the winner.

You can simply enjoy the fun or even be a part of fun! Any race fan that comes out this Saturday wearing a bikini will be admitted for free this Saturday, August 4th! Madera Speedway will provide a special family section this Saturday where bikinis, alcohol, bad language and tobacco use will be prohibited.

Also mark you calendars for Kid's Night on Saturday, August 11. This very special NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series program will include several events geared for especially for families and kids
including Bike and Big Wheel races.

Looking even further ahead, the date of Friday, October 12th has been set for the end of year Madera Speedway banquet. This year's banquet will be held at Hatfield Hall located on the Madera fairgrounds.

Ticket prices Saturday, August 4 are only $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, students, active duty military and juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 and kids 5 and under are

By Robert Haugh

- Among the stellar entries will be 16-year-old BCRA points leader Justin Grant in the #17 Thurston Spike/Esslinger, 7-time BCRA champion Floyd Alvis, “The Ageless Wonder” piloting his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Esslinger, reigning two-time BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton chauffeuring the Sarale Farms #32 Stealth/Riolo Chevy, Hanford's Jared Little piloting his own #23 Stinger Mopar, giving King's Speedway fans a local boy to root on, Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez in the Walker-Cortez Motorsports #31 Stealth/Esslinger who rests fourth in the series points and a host of top Midget teams and drivers.

19-year-old BCRA Midget rookie Kevin Morris will be coming into the race carrying momentum, having won his fist BCRA Midget feature several weeks ago at Lakeport Speedway. Morris will be driving his father Del's #17k Spike Esslinger. Morris currently sits fifth in the BCRA points battle.
