FOCUSES AT VENTURA, NEW CASTLE, IRWINDALE, MORRIS & ELKIN; INTRAVAIA, CLOUSER, SKOGLUND & SWANSON POST VICTORIES;

RAIN TAKES PLYMOUTH

Rain forced cancelation of last Wednesday’s Indiana Ford Focus race at Plymouth, Ind. but races were conducted in the Northeast Series at Lowville, N.Y., the Midwest and USAC/UMARA Series at Oregon, WIsc., the Carolina Series at Shenandoah, Va. and the California Paved Series at Irwindale, Calif.

Five more Focus races are on tap this week at New Castle, Ind. Wednesday (Indiana), Ventura, Calif. Thursday (California Dirt), Elkin, N.C. Friday (Carolina), and Irwindale (California Pavement) and Morris, Ill. (USAC/UMARA) Saturday.

Rookie Steven Intravaia of Saylorsburg, Pa. scored his second Northeast Series victory Friday at Adirondack International Speedway in Lowville, N.Y. He led all but the first lap in his Intravaia Racing/S & S Speedways Beast after passing Jesse State on lap two and went on to beat P.J. Stergios, State, Shaun Gosselin and series point leader Jeff Abold.

USAC/UMARA point leader Mario Clouser of Auburn, Ill. was Saturday’s 30-lap Midwest & USAC/UMARA feature winner at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisc., leading all 30 laps in his Illinois Corn Marketing Board Beast to beat Tyler Irwin, Craig Haack, Midwest series point leader Chett Gehrke and James Robertson.

Point leader Tim Skoglund of Fresno, Calif. won Saturday’s California Pavement 35-lapper at Irwindale Speedway in his Western Speed & Fuel/Rancho Auto Repair Gerhardt, taking the lead from Mike Maier on lap 29 and leading the rest of the way to beat Maier, who led the first 28 laps. Nic Faas, Ian Miille and Tom Dyer rounded out the “top-five.”

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. led all the way to win Saturday’s 35-lap Carolina feature at Shenandoah (Va.) Speedway, driving the Tracy Trotter Beast. Series point leader Michael Sboro finished second ahead of Mark Burt, Scott Hunter and Michael Mohelski.
