there are 2 different ways of increasing car counts as i see it
1. wait for the economy to come back around . history has shown us that most car owners are successfull small business owners . we all know where the economy is now .
OR
2. push for lower level sprint car racing that will help racers transition into a series like usac-cra .
for some strange reason here in the west we have this belief we do things better than anywhere else . what we are doing better than enywhere else is let something we love so much come too close to dying ! its just too easy to look at racing in the midwest and see that the local racer is the backbone . non wing sprintcars are a gateway to nascar , this is a fact . we also know that most that make it to nascar buy their way in . we also know that raw unbelievable tallent like kyle larson drive their way into nascar . we live in an era that some parents raise their kids to be pro athletes , some of which will be race car drivers . there seems to be quite a bit of this right here in so-cal . we dont have local sprint car racing because in the past it wasnt needed , or that was the mentality . we need to get the local saturday nite racer driving sprintcars . but unfortunatly there is no where for him or her to race around here except ventura . we need a pas sprint car class , and a vv sprint car class . i am in no way saying not to have usac-cra ! we need that type of racing buit we also need to feed it .

LOL! Decaf mate, before you get even more sensitive and threaten to beat me up over another snide comment on the internet.
Trophy Cup offered a huge purse for the non-wing and only about 60% of them showed up. It was not enough for many of the wing cars to take offf the wing and run. Thursday ngiht? Maybe... Billet Cup. Lower than expected car count. Oval Nationals, more money, similar or smaller car count. Clearly, offering more money on the top end is not attracting cars...
Also, you claim im a dummy, I am reasonably sure "strait" sic, is not the word you are looking for. You want me to come at you straight. Which is fine, except I was having a discussion with you, that would be the bit where I made points about what I have observed this year... sure I made a bit of a snide comment, in line with yours. Clearly I was wrong in thinking you had a sense of humor and could actually carry a conversation.

410 sprint cars don’t need to apologize to nobody for nothing
Forget monster trucks, drifting cars and bearded ladies
Roy is right, you have diluted the fan base with fifty classes
One strong series in So Cal
The rest of the world will bob along merrily in its wake
Race sponsors will pay the big purse when the economy improves
Pay the top three (stars) then more money towards the bottom
Let the promoters make a profit
More track prep for better races
Not too long, not too short
Qualifying, four heats, B-main, intermission, make the main insane
No support classes
Won’t be easy, would you have it any other way?

Dave me being one of the few that really enjoy the winged sprints from down here in So Cal . There will never come a day when the CRA 410 non wing series will ever be a support class. They will draw just as many fans as the beloved KWS 410 winged series for this special event. And we all will be treated to a special night of racing. The So Cal non wings series and the No Cal winged 410 series all meeting in the middle of the state is gonna be a good time.

Cotton is going to run for the 28th time. This will be my 4th. As far as I know the main event has mostly been a wing show. They always have a support show of various types. If some don't want to call the CRA a support class thats no problem. As far as fans go, for every CRA fan that comes over the Grapevine, there will be 25 KoW fans, coming from as far away as Chico and points north. As for me I will be tickled pink to see the CRA run. Last years show with The W/C Sprints was a helluva show.

if I remember right (at my age its hit or miss) USAC/CRA was a support class at a late model show at kings and got there a main cut short so the big dogs could race.

Should be a good show. Kings was consistently one of the best prepared tracks all season.
They have a few other shows which should be really good.
