Hello all. Long time lurker, but first time poster. I'm an avid sprint car fan (and working hard to make my oldest daughter one too) and have been for as long as I can remember. I also like building plastic models and such. My oldest talked me into building a model with her of one of the local drivers she's a fan of and I didn't realize what I got myself into LOL. I purchased a kit but soon realized that I would have to modify it a lot to resemble a modern Maxim (the kit wasn't even close). I have had to scratch build most of the chassis via pictures and info available on the web, but need some help that I can't find via the web. The one area I have been having a problem with is the roll cage/driver's hoop area and the seat back area. Because of the wings and the fact that you should never have a good look at the top of a sprinter if it's situated the correct way. I have never gotten up the nerve to ask a driver/crew if I could stand on top of their car and take pictures, figured that would be weird. So I figured I would ask here being I know a lot of driver's and crew members post on here. I guess the anonymity of the web makes it a little bit easier of a question to ask. If you could share some pictures that would be great. Myself and my little side kick would really appreciate it. Thanks a million.

Thank you, but I've already found unfortunately.  That picture worked pretty well to get things like the down bars and such in the right place, but for figuring out the top hoop and the bars inside the cockpit that isn't so good for unfortunately.  Thank you though.

Mine is at Tony's getting a couple bumper bungs and stuff replaced right now.  When I get it back, I'll take and send whatever pictures you want if you don't have what you need by then.  Unless you want to come to central Michigan and stand on it and take your own.  Just remind me in a week or so.

If you haven't found it yet get on scalesprints.com

Entire site dedicated to sprintcar model building.... tons of guys on there do complete scratch builds and have many pics of perfect scratchbuilt replicas of most modern chassis, hoods, tailtanks, shocks etc...and they also can tell you where to get more modern/realistic wheel centers, torsion arms, rear ends, engine parts, etc...

go to the main page and click on the forum tab...be prepared to waste 8 hours straight before you log off...if you don't have lots of time to kill you better wait until you do... amazing website.

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Yeah, I've definately been looking quite a bit.  I really appreciate all the help I've gotten from the good folks on here that have taken their time to get the pictures and such.  Scale sprints has some really good resources, but just haven't found any good info on that one area of that type of chassis.  Maybe I haven't stumbled across it, but I have definately looked.  I definately will end up posting some of the templates I've made and put together once I get it done though.  Thanks again for your help guys.
