The legendary Work ‘N Woody will be making its 2013 debut during this weekend’s 20th annual “Southwest Contractors Trophy Cup” at the Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway and owner/operator Eric Malies would like to give thanks to all for making it possible. The event takes this place this Thursday through Saturday at the Thunderbowl Raceway and tickets can be purchased by contacting 559-688-0909 with more info at www.thunderbowlraceway.com and www.trophycup.org

“I’m really excited to get Woody back to the races this weekend in Tulare and I really have to thank Dennis & Teresa Roth & the whole Roth Motorsports team for helping me get Woody ready for the Trophy Cup. I also would like to thank Thunderbowl Raceway promoter Steve Faria along with Trophy Cup organizer Dave Pusateri.  Finally I’d like to give a special thanks to Gary Castro and his KRC Graphics team for providing all the Make-A-Wish graphics on Woody. I would to invite everyone to stop by after the races and say hi.”

Work ’N Woody was built by Art Malies in 1978 and was originally operated by he and wife Carol of Carmichael, California. Woody then traveled the California highways supporting the now defunct Northern Auto Racing Club for a number of years, until hitting the road with the World of Outlaws in 1988. With its unique format the "Trophy Cup" regularly produces some of the best racing seen all season. Each time a driver hits the raceway for competitive racing there are points awarded, with it all being a lead-up to the 50-lap feature on Saturday night that is completely inverted based on points accumulated up to that part of the event.

Returning to the Trophy Cup once again will be the “Taco Bravo Fiesta Night” on Friday and then the Saturday afternoon spaghetti feed, both located on the fairgrounds. The fiesta night will start 30 minutes after the races on Friday and the spaghetti feed will run from 12:30pm to 2:30pm on Saturday. As always the Trophy Cup benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation like it has since the very beginning.

System 1 Pro Ignition will be holding an open house during the Friday afternoon portion of “Trophy Cup” weekend on October 18. The open house will take place from 11am to 1:30pm and is located about one mile from the Thunderbowl Raceway at 4288 South K Street Tulare, Ca. 93274

On Thursday night after the races there will also be a post-race party featuring hot dogs, chili dogs & a live band as well, so fans and teams are encouraged to stay after the races on both Thursday & Friday. “It’s been great to see how much the Trophy Cup has grown each season,” said Thunderbowl promoter Steve Faria. “These extra additions are definitely turning this event into a happening and one that racers and fans won’t want to miss. I know we are excited and hope everyone else is too.”

The Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds on the corner of Bardsley and K Streets in Tulare, California. From the junction of SR 99 and SR 137, go west on SR 137. At South K go south one-half mile to the Fairgrounds.
