Battle for NCRA Modified Championship Continues Saturday Night!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – October 7, 2013 - It will be the first of a pair of back to back races to close out the 2013 race season this coming Saturday night as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division holds the next to final event of the season at 81 Speedway in Park City.

This point race and the season finale one week later (October 19) is all that is left for current point leader Marc Hurd to successfully defend his championship point title of one year ago.

However, several drivers are looking to claim their stake at the championship, which would be the first for each.

Enid, Oklahoma driver A.J. Brochu is the lone representative from the “Sooner State” with a chance at bringing the title to Oklahoma. Brochu sits second in the tour point standings, just 55 points out of the lead.

Dustin Belcher is having his best year on the tour. The Wichita driver sits third in the point standings, 65 points out of the lead.

Not only is there brotherly love but there is a brotherly battle for the top five position in the point standings as Dan Powers and Josh Lanterman sit fourth and fifth in the standings, just 80 and 85 points out of the point lead respectively.

Sitting sixth through tenth in the standings and waiting to see what may happen to the top five the next two events has these drivers ready to give it their all to close out the season. They include; Jason McGehee, Jon Thompson, Don Hodge, Justin Moler and Jimmy Brozek. McGehee and Brozek are battling for rookie of the year honors while Thompson is coming off an emotional victory in finally taming the Belleville High Banks back over the Labor Day weekend.

Of course the top ten in the standings as well as the other drivers who will be attending will have to contend with former five-time tour champion Brian Franz. This year’s Hutchinson Grand Nationals champion seems to have 81 Speedway “dialed in” as he is always out front in each event held at the speedway.

Other drivers expected to compete include: Kirby Robe, Ross Shipman, Joe Adams, Jace Wadel, Lucas Gibbs, Gary Kilbourn, Johnny Whitmore and Richard Wilson.

The tracks mod-lite and 305-ci sprint car division will also be competing.

Adult grandstand admission is just $12 for ages 11 and up while children 6-10 grandstand admission is just $5.

Pit gates will open at 5:00 PM with a start slated for 7:00 PM.

81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile west on 77th St. in Park City. For more race and ticket information contact the 81 Speedway office (316) 755-1781.

Since 1971 the NCRA has sanctioned dirt track races across the Great Plains with the series currently sanctioning five other divisions. They include modifieds, southern sport modifieds, late models, 360 sprint cars, 305 sprint cars and new mod lites. The 2013 season for the National Championship Racing Association is the 43rd anniversary season with races scheduled at sixteen different race tracks across Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri.
