Spend the Day at 81 Speedway This Championship Saturday!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – September 18, 2013 - Looking for something to do this Saturday? Why not spend it at the race track as the final weekly point show for the 2013 race season is set to take place at 81 Speedway in Park City. And the day won’t be filled with just racing as there will be “fan friendly” events as well.
All eleven of the tracks weekly racing divisions will be in action at some point during the day. Below is the itinerary for this Saturday:
Afternoon session: Gates will open at noon with qualifying heat races slated to begin at 2 PM. On the racing card will be the Credit King Modified, Economy Motors AAA Modified, Alternative Pest Management Rookie Modified, Mod Lite, Street Stock, Thumper, Budweiser Hobby Stock, Hornet and Youth Hornets. The 305-ci sprints will run a complete program of qualifying heat races and feature.
Special event activities are planned at the conclusion of the afternoon session including music, tailgating and other special events. Track photographer Mary Gregory is organizing a driver autograph session which will take place behind the grandstand. Currently there are fifty drivers who have committed to sign autographs, have pictures taken with the kids and even allow the youngsters to sit behind the wheel of their favorite racecar.
The evening portion will get underway at 7 PM and will feature a complete program for the 360-ci sprint cars plus all championship features for the Credit King Modified, Economy Motors AAA Modified, Alternative Pest Management Rookie Modified, Mod Lite, Street Stock, Thumper, Budweiser Hobby Stock, Hornet and Youth Hornet.
Current point leaders for all competing divisions heading into Saturday are: Mod Lite: Ryan Secrest, Newton, Ks.; Youth Hornet: Dustin Shockey, Wichita, Ks.; Hornet: Dustin Bolster, Belle Plain; 305 Sprints: Josh Fairbank; Hobby Stock: Henry Vaughn III, Wichita, Ks.; AAA Modified: Dustin Belcher, Wichita, Ks.; Thumper: James Weve, Hutchinson, Ks.; Modified: Marc Hurd, Wichita, Ks.; Street Stock: Adam Popp, Haven, Ks.; Sprint Car: Jeremy Campbell, Wichita, Ks.; Rookie Modified: Cory Johnston, Wichita, Ks.
Just a reminder, while Saturday will be the final weekly racing point show at the speedway, the track is nowhere near done for the 2013 race season as special events are scheduled each weekend through the end of October.
