Longpine Holds off Harrison for NCRA Sport Mod Victory!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Salina, Oklahoma – September 14, 2013 - Bud Longpine took advantage of a lap seven restart and held off Mark Harrison the rest of the way to win his first career Bob Howard PDC and MOPAR National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products southern sport modified feature Saturday night as the tour made their third annual trip to the Salina High Banks in Salina, Oklahoma.
Harrison started on the pole for the twenty lap feature and out ran Longpine entering turns one and two and took the lead as the green flag fell. Longpine was on the leader’s bumper the whole distance before the caution would wave on lap seven for Steve Freeman.
Longpine made his move on the restart and took the lead over Harrison to lead lap eight. Harrison was glued to the leader’s bumper and made several attempts to retake the lead, only to see Longpine up to the challenge each time and continue out front.
Longpine would go on to become the 21st different sport mod feature winner in the tours five year history and sixth different winner this season. For the fifth time this 2013 season Harrison wound up finishing second and maintain his point lead. Fifth starting Joe Adams finished third, followed by seven starting Todd Decker and Cleo Adams.
The battled for the 2013 point championship will come to exciting end on Saturday night, October 5th at 81 Speedway with a special $1000 to win for that nights feature finale. With drivers throughout the state expected, the battle for the top ten positions in the final point standings, to earn a spot on stage at the NCRA banquet in January, will be up for grabs.
