I wonder if that is Eddie Leavitt or Shuman in the R&H Farms #40 you can see in the race, the 40 car won the Nationals in 1975 with Leavitt driving. I think it was a Beck car.
Was the Bogar car their own design? Was there also a #99 or did they change the number for a USAC race?

Jan the Man !!!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting that George Snider's # 2 car appeared to be the only car with "downtubes".
According to info found in the book "USAC Sprint History 1956-1980": for the 1974 season neither Eddie Leavitt or Shuman earned any points in the drivers standings. Also for 1974 in the same book the R & H Farms (# 48 entered by John Ricke) car earned a total of 19 points is two races, the complete driver point standings for 1974 indicate Thad Dosher earned 19 points in two races, so possibly Thad drove the R & H car. Please note--the # 48 is not a typo on my part that's the car number shown in the book and no number 40 car is listed as having earned USAC sprint car points that year and the list includes 58 total cars and the lowest point toal is two points for the last (58th) car. Possibly USAC forced the R & H car to use a different number than their normal # 40 or possibly the book is wrong by showing the number as 48--there were no photos of the R & H car shown.

Wow thanks for posting. Lucky enough to have been there. Hard to believe nearly 40 years ago. Have a picture hanging in my shop of Jan unbuckling with the damaged nose. Couldnt hide his smile or mine either. Not sure Eddie Leavitt was in the R&H Farms car. Remember Thad Dosher in that ride but never R Shuman. The 90 car that won @ Eldora was known as Shit Box II welded together by Raplh Heintzleman. The 90# was a USAC requirement. It was cold and wet that day. Took Earl and extra hr to get the track run in. Think back to the no wings racing of the day, half the horse power twice the racing. How I miss those days. Will never forget Jan.

For sure, but it is a SPRINT. There should not be fuel stops in a sprint.

Nice! I love how the video's narrator sounds like the flinstones narrator. They catered to kids back then.

Thanks for the update on the R and H farms car. I forgot Thad Dosier did drive it some then.
I can remember Op at Sedalia just after this, in an all white car with blue 99.
Those days were something, with Opperman, Leavitt, Kenny Weld, Bubby Jones, Earl Wagner, Dick Sutcliffe, Ray Lee Goodwin, Jay Woodside, Joe Saldana. The USAC Guys. You never had any idea when you attended a race who was going to win.

Thanks PP, those were some good days of sprint car racing. No wings on a heavy track is still great racing.
