Has anyone heard any late reports concerning injuries to Jim Van Larre who was in a scary accident at Petaluma last night?? When i left the track last report was he had finally regained consciousness before beinging transported by ambulance to the hospital.. It was one of the scariest accidents i have seen in quite awhile.. The track looked like Petaluma of old last night, fast and tacky..

Thanks you for the good news 3x.. The whole crowd was stunted and silent after that accident, just seems like everyone was having the same thought that this could be very bad. Thank God he will be ok..Can't say enough about the safety features on the modern day sprint cars and protection for the drivers.

Glad to hear he is ok. I didn't see how bad it was but when the call went out to get Petaluma PD on the way I was fearing the worst.

goatracing: I captured a low-quality video of the incident with my digital camera -
http://dtcwrt.earlracing.com/video/721/dcfc0181a.avi

From what I recall, Alissa Geving had to check up at the start/finish on this second start attempt for the B-Main (but was able to continue on and was not involved in the accident) and behind her, a lot of cars bottlenecked. I know Josh Keheley went over, too, and Jimmy Trulli was involved in the crash as well.

VanLare barrel rolled along the fence several times before landing at the start of turn one. That was scary to watch and I am very glad he is recovering.

Alissa was hit by the #7 car who started outside of her. That car then checked up and the wreck happened from there......... would you like to see the video?

Definitely. My capture was really low quality and obviously obscured a bit by the fence...

Speaking of unlucky moments, how did the incident in that heat unfold, it looked like Mike Henry tried to get a huge jump on the others and get on the outside as soon as the race started, resulting in the contact in turn two.

At some point you guys are gonna need rubber bumpers or something to keep others from hitting the #3x! This reminds me a lot of Katherine Legge in Champcar, who while she's sometimes had her own issues in races, often gets hit by other drivers while minding her own business.

Well when Mike jumped the start and they came around the turn Mike shoved Alissa into the other car in front of her. He came off the turn and for some reason didn't lift at all. Then for some other strange reason after the race was over he drove by our pits and sprayed dirt all over us. I was a little confused but I guess he thought Alissa caused it....... OH WELL.

I'm looking at my video clip of that incident, and it looks like Henry actually gained a position (from 6th to 5th) BEFORE the start, after going way outside and three wide off of 4.  I'm surprised the officials though that start attempt was kosher.

Here's my low-quality footage:
