Possibly because everyone fell asleep, or the smart ones stayed home and counted the $ they saved.

we were at the races...not playing on the computer.

nice long intermission for FOAW drivers to work the backstretch to collect money for the house fire victims...much thanks to the NSCBBA guys for pulling to gether $900 cash for the effort and all other in the crowd who dropped CASH into the helmets of our great young drivers.

Conditions: rubberdown for the second night in a row, this time on lap 7...once Schatz caught the provisional 35, he was there for the taking and Kinser did get a few shots at him.

Crowd Pleasing Moment: In the course of the evening...the tower attempted to get fan reaction to certain drivers...the funniest was..."are there any World of Outlaws Fans out there?"...dead silence!

Fans Want to Know: WHY did Kinser back off on the front stretch when he pulled along side Schatz with just a few laps to go?

WTF: McCarl gets put back a row in his heat for jumping the start...but on the restart he duplicates the jump and gets no penalty.

WTF #2: for whatever reason, it is now Bruce Ellis' responsibility to announce Steve Kinser as 20 Time World of Outlaws Champion as the touring announcers seems content to stick with the phrase "from Bloomington Indiana".

Mulligan Moment: a second long pause in the action was accorded to Schatz with little or no words uttered from the tower until he rolls onto the track to start it...then "Donnie Schatz has completed an engine change and ITS NOW TIME to announce the A-Main starting line up..." the wording could not have been more appropriate!

Same Ol: Schatz gets booed all night, wins as fans clear the stands and head back to the camp sites before he gets to victory lane. once on the mic, he mentioned that he was running his "knoxville nationals engine"...not sure if that was the sour one or the replacement as we were well on our way to the campsite at the time.

Summary: the price was high compared to the value of the product (ala Eldora), but the all in all we had an excellent weather situation for good times, excellent fellowship, in spite of crappy track conditions for the A mains but good action in the qualifying events. funny how $12 buys you a better surface and action without all the million dollar teams.

if you dont like my account...talk to Cisco & Ebert for his "remote visions" - Schatz predicted a sweep but came up short...Kinser reeled him in but backed off when the win was within reach.

Hats off to Schatz, you know you are on top of your game when even the King BOWS to you. Also hats off to Ricky Warner who seems to be calling the shots on both the 20 and the 15.

Schatz says new tire is stuck just as hard, while others say it is a little better...what it all means is there is little to NO difference. They should have went with a smaller tire like ASCS. World of Outlaws racing puts people to sleep, the fans who bother to come anymore in the first place. Keep listening to the race teams and you'll continue to get front row drag racing, they're the ones who have evolved it into what it is today. There is no way in hell high points man should start at the front of every event all night long. Maybe the NHRA should scoop up the Outlaws?

Why don't some of these tracks take back some control? Put it in a contract, you (WoO) come ot our house, we do the track. If you don't like that go race at a different track!! I'll bet better than 80% of the WoO races this year are from the front row. The new tire and the way the invert is worked, it sucks!!!!!!

Cubic - you need to come west, to I-55. I promise, you will not drift off to sleep there!! LOL Seriously though, & I don't know what the announced format for last night was, but did he receive any special treatment as far as starting spots? Sprint car racing penalizes the faster guys enough as it is, which goes against most other forms of motorsports that I know of. I like to see passing as much as the next guy, & if it's for the lead, then that's just icing on the cake. But, I don't think the "artificial" passing created by WG's weekly lineup is necessarily fair either, & I certainly don't think it would work in a series that has a deep, quality field every night. Now, if they mandated larger fuel cells, & would run some 50 lap races, even on 1/2 miles, then yes I could see that as being a viable option. That's not a knock against PA racing, because I know that there is no tougher local competition to be found, that's just my opinion. I have seen bad tracks this year with the WoO, MSCS (non-wing), & my local 360 track which specifies the SC-25 as the only RR you can use - you win some, you lose some.

Good account BRR. Props to former FOAW Leppo on a well earned victory. As always, the camping, tailgating, company and atmosphere are better than the show............but I would be nowhere else. Schatz is virtually untouchable right now............Duane...........the K-Ville boyz better be up in the seat for the big show comin' up.

Yep, most of them are ready, except they are called Outlaws now since they grew up and moved out of the house.

Duane, how many threads were there on here early this season about fans in Knoxville not even bothering to support the one local 410 track in your area unless it is an Outlaw show? How would the area ever support the three or four weekly 410 tracks needed to keep stars like Danny Lasoski, Terry McCarl and Craig Dollansky racing locally? If it was viable to make a good living locally, the big name drivers would do that.

If you have the TALENT to play major league baseball why would you stay home locally and play A Ball? If you can play in the NHL why would you stay home and play Beer League hockey? Some people like and are not afraid of a challenge. Some people want to play against the best to see where they stack up. Some people want to test their limits and improve their game'standing and those people are found on the Outlaw tour.

Of course there are more than few who should be learning locally but you can't stop someone for chasing a dream or reaching for gold even though it is unattainable. Take It Easy.......

No mention of the fact that at least Saturday saw a large crowd on hand (I wasn't able to make it Friday and I assume Thursday was poor), so good to see despite the bad reviews, that the Grove is back in black financially with the Outlaws.

some on the tour are embroiled in frustration and slamming the motor home door after dismal finishes in the B main!

dsc: Fri & Sat = money was made at the Grove - not as full as years past, but better than the split year 3 day show.

Wow, can we say spanked? I would say that the Posse got a solid thrashing by the Outlaws. I respect the Posse as the best weekly racers in the world and there was a time when they could hold their own and even beat the Outlaws on home turf. Not so no mo. I guess we can put the Posse argument to bed now. BRR and MSPN, kiss and make up until y'all can find a new topic to spar with.

wait a minute , the posse pushers will say more locals made the show or that more locals were in the pits ,or that the posse can spit further or some other thing other than what happened in the front half of the a-main. but god forbid if there was a lone posse member in the a-main and they won. oh man in that case the posse rules, they kicked butt they are the best lol. hey posse people we know your guys are good, we know they can race with the best, we know they have just as much of a chance at winning in pa. as anyone. so do ours.

Pennsylvania always ends up beating the Outlaws in the end one way or another...lol. We're going on 30 years of kicking Outlaw ass. And the sad part about it is, not only did Leppo out-DRAG RACE Steve Kinser into turn one Friday night... All our local tracks probably beat the Outlaws during Speedweek, Lincoln Speedway has been beating them for the last ten years, and I'm sure Port Royal is going to beat them on August 4th. Their product is way overpriced, just like the cost of the racing itself, which they have managed to drive through the roof over the last three decades. Truth of the matter is the Outlaws can take their DRAG RACE side show somewhere else judging by the Grove's attendance at the Mitch Smith Memorial versus last Saturday night. I also pray Knoxville never sanctions the Nationals again until the F-1 of dirt track racing finds its grassroots once more. The Outlaws better start paying Jac Haudenschild double tow money because he and Schatz are one of the few shows they've got.
