For Immediate Release

OCTOBER 5TH USAC/CRA RACE AT THE PAS CANCELED!

(Perris, CA, July 25, 2013)  Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian announced today that the October 5th Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car race at Perris Auto Speedway on the opening weekend of the Southern California Fair, has been canceled.

“The fair has decided to go with Monster Trucks that entire weekend,” Kazarian stated.  “I totally understand their reasoning.  Monster Trucks virtually draw a standing room only crowd at all of their shows.  Being that it is opening weekend, having them will have a tremendous impact on the success of this year’s fair.”

Initially, Kazarian and fair officials were thinking of moving the sprint car race to October 12th, on the second and final weekend of the fair.

“We were hoping to have it on October 12th,” Kazarian said.  “However, Cody Williams is getting married that day.  The Williams/Jory team has supported this series since day one and they are at every race.  It would have been totally unfair and disrespectful to them to move the race to that date at such a late time.  Also, other drivers will be at the wedding and some others have made different plans.  We would have had a very short field of cars.  That would have made for a poor show and painted the wrong picture for fair goers who are potential new race fans.”

An announcement on what is going to be scheduled on October 12th is forthcoming in the next few days.

For more information call The PAS at: (951) 940-0134.

Maybe the OSS will pick up the slack.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Never expected to read the name Tom Hager on a California sprint car board! I watched "Big" Tom Hager squeeze into a modified many a night back east in the 70's and 80's. If I remeber right he didnt get married on the front shoot however. The race that night was cancelled due to rain so they moved the cerimony into one of the barns at the fairgrounds.

You are correct. I believe the original plan was to be married during intermission on the front straight.  I am sure the weather at Perris would be more favorable!
