ASCS Speedweek Next Stop: Oklahoma City on Friday Night

TULSA, Okla. (July 20, 2007) – Following wins in two of the opening three rounds of the 15th Annual American Sprint Car Series Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, three-time O'Reilly ASCoT National champion Gary Wright continues his pursuit of an unprecedented sixth ASCS Speedweek crown in Friday night's Fourth Round at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway.

After wins at Little Rock's I-30 Speedway on Saturday night and then Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, on Thursday night along with a runner-up finish at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK, on Monday night, Wright holds a 16-point lead over Louisiana's Jason Johnson in ASCS Speedweek points.

Wright has topped eight of 19 ASCS National Tour feature events contested at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway since the track's reconfiguration prior to the 2002 season. Two of those have come this season, with Wright coming from 14th and 10th starting positions to snare those victories.

With six different ASCS Speedweek champions over the past six years, Wright tries to snap that streak of different kings after his last Speedweek crown in 2002.

Tim Crawley, the 2004 Speedweek champion, is currently third in ASCS Speedweek points, with Wayne Johnson and Monday night's Creek County Speedway winner Darren Stewart rounding out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten in ASCS Speedweek points includes 13-year-old Coleman Gulick, Nick Smith, Travis Rilat, Eric Baldaccini and Brian McClelland.

Eighteen drivers remain in contention for the set of ASCS Brodix series heads that will be awarded to one lucky driver that competes in each round of ASCS Speedweek action during Saturday night's Speedweek finale at Lawton Speedway.

In addition to the current top ten in ASCS Speedweek points, other drivers that have competed in each round of Speedweek action thus far and are eligible for the set of Brodix heads include Cody Gardner, Kenneth Walker, Matt Covington, Foster Landon, Claud Estes, Rob Hartman, Joe Young and Dave Speer.

Friday's action at State Fair Speedway gets under way at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday's ASCS Speedweek finale at Lawton Speedway goes green at 8:00 p.m.

State Fair Speedway is located on the Oklahoma State Fair Grounds near the intersection of N.W. 10th and May Avenue. For more information, contact the track at 405-948-6796.

Lawton Speedway is located in Lawton, OK, off I-44 Exit 36, then 2.5 miles west on Lee Boulevard, then 1.4 miles south on Sheridan Road. For more information, contact the track at 580-355-6417.

The O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series is currently slated for approximately 40 nights of racing action at 22 different tracks throughout 15 different states, with more than $1,000,000 in purse money and point fund to be distributed during the 2007 season.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With 13 different Regions in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
