Could you all imagine how mouthy and vocal the Swindell camp would've been if a lapped car had raced Sammy(had he been leading) like he did Brad last night? Just sayin'

Your sentence gave me a minor migraine, but I think I get your point. Crazy to see Sammy as lap bait especially at Eldora.

Most of the guys who get lapped are used to losing. Sammy isn't (yet...) His pride wouldn't allow him to be lapped, & I respect that

It was funny to hear Sweet take a small dig at Sammy in Victory Lane. Sweet is such a nice guy, that is what made it funny. Sammy is still one of the best ever and Sweet is just an all around good wheelman!

He should be getting used to it by now, not making A-mains and getting lapped is becoming a common happening with Swindell.

Shane raced just as hard not to get lapped, but nobody is making a thread about that! Sammy is sitting 5th in points looks likes he's doing just fine holding his own

Sammy always will never have any class. Arrogant & poor loser, cry baby, many more adjectives to describe him.He is however a great driver in his own right but only in superior equipment. He could never carry an 80% sprint car like the King could. Steve would make up for the missing 20% & just wrestle it to the front! Those days are over too I feel. Age is catching up real quick to the pair of them.

Seems to me that Steve has probably never had to sit in inferior equipment and wrestle it to the front. He's had two of the best crew chiefs in the history of the sport wrenching on his stuff his entire career. Steve is great, but let's not act like he was showing up at the track in a car that was anything less than the best out there.
It's strange to see Sammy struggle like that at Eldora. He won this race last year and is lap traffic this year. Hopefully him and Steve can have a better showing over the next couple of weeks.

That's funny for sure.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Yo' ignorant guy, err straight shooter, name me some of Sammy's Crew Chiefs over the last 20 years. He not only outdrives Steve most days he sets up the car as well, something Steve has NEVER done. As to Sammy's class, have you ever seen a cleaner hauler or car at the track, didn't think so, it's his style and always has been. The jealous types like yourself have never been able to deal with it and never will, c'est la vie.....

Sammy is more mechanically inclined than most (if not all) drivers, but it has basically been his own worst enemy throughout his career. I believe Eckert wrote something to this effect about him a few years ago, and it's prety close to the truth. If he had stuck to a 4-bar Maxim his entire career, he probably would've won a lot more races. He tinkered with the radical independent front suspension in the late 80s and coil-over in the early 90s before going off to run the Nascar stuff. He was really fast when he nailed the setup, but average at best when he didn't. Twenty-some years later, it seems that he's back to his old tricks. His Maxim/Ott and/or Maxim/Parker was really fast in 2010, 2011, and 2012... but I'm sure Sammy thought they could gain an edge if they switched to something that was a little different... something he could tinker with and make better. If the tires had remained the same, he might've been right. As it is, the tires made a huge difference... and they've struggled all year to get the chassis and tires to work together. Saldana is no different. McCarl jumped ship to ART. Dobmeier struggled early... ripped off 3 wins... but struggled last week. I'm not against ingenuity and trying something different to maybe gain an edge... but it looks like this year was a bad time to switch your chassis builder! If Sammy doesn't get something figured out fast (or switch back to Maxim), he'll be lucky to make the B at Nationals. I don't think he's lost much in the form of driving ability either, which is why it's sad.

You are correct in this statement........He is hurting himself by trying to make eagle work when there was nothing wrong with being the leading winner on the tour last year with 13 wins and running maxim.I hate when he tries to do something different.I asked him at kokomo this year was he struggling figuring out the eagle chassis? he said its the same car as a maxim and he was struggling with the hoosiers.......he said the right rear is like a inner tube and the left rear was like a pavement tire.Despite what he said I believe that he will lose his ride over no success and the switch to eagle.....he already is on borrowed time anyway but the way he was running with maxim you would think he had 10 years left, now I am thinking he has a half season at best next year and he will fade into the background for good.
Love Sammy or Hate Sammy he is a very talented smart race car driver that has had a great career and it will be sad to see him go away struggling to be what he once was over a switch to a different chassis.

I give the guy alot of credit for stickin with it and not hanging it up as frustrating as it must be,but at some point he will have to make a change ,wether his owner supports it or not ,in order to continue racing at the level he's use to.Regardlessit wont be quite the same when Sammy and Steve hang em up.
