Simmons promotion tracks--Dubuque, Farley, West Liberty, Darlington--why NO sprint car races scheduled on any of these tracks, ever? There was an IRA race years ago in Darlington, which sounded to me like it was a great race. Wasn't able to make it because I was out of town. Farley had the WOO there about 7-10 years ago, but it got rained out. We got all the way there and it was called. Never saw them on the schedule again. Any reason no one tries to promote any sprint car races in this area?

Dubuque, Farley and West Liberty is late model country.
Burlington and Knoxville are sprint car islands in a sea of late model and mod racing.

Sprint Invaders used to race at West Liberty and Farley, not sure why they no longer do.

First, Darlington WI is NOT (and was never) a Simmons Promotions track.
SPI used to run the Lancaster WI track for a few years but it wasn't feasible
once the Muscatine County Fairboard decided that they couldn't afford to be the
promoters of the West Liberty Raceway on Saturday nights anymore. Darlington did host a single IRA show once....from what I heard they will not go back and the whole facility has been in limbo for the last 5 years or so trying to get someone to operate a weekly show there.
The short answer is that there was not enough attendance to justify a sprint
show. WL and Farley have hosted the Sprint Invaders a few times, but things
just didn't work out with regards to scheduling (SPI's conflict, not Sprint
Invaders I beleive).
Dubuque did host a single IRA show (after one or two rainouts in previous
years) but it was a disaster. It was early season, attendance was horrible
and what turned out to be a spectacular feature was mostly unwatched after a
very rough start. (lot's of restarts in first 5 laps....silly spins
mainly) Tmac put on one hell of a show coming from the back to finish
second by rim-riding the cushion of the high banks in what have to be the fastest laps ever posted in the 45 year history of the track.
Nobody would like to see sprints back at Dubuque (or Farley or WL or
Lancaster) more than I would. These are tracks that I worked at for many
years. If SRS would like to try another WoO race at any of the facilites, I
am sure that Keith Simmons would be interested. (I am pretty sure
that SRS would have to be involved to get WoO). If someone wants to rent
the track to promote or sponsor a sprint car night, call 563-744-3620!
I can promise you that when the stars align and the right powerball #'s get
drawn, the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Speedway will host weekly wingless sprint
racing!

IRA ran a double header with the Badger midgets at Farley once. I was there and it was a heck of a show. Really fast and pretty much the widest track I have ever seen in my life (especially in turns 1 and 2). I heard numerous reports of the track in Darlington having a really scary turn 1. I was not down there for that show but decided to go look at it on radar. When you have some time go to Goggle Earth or the radar on Google maps. Search for Lafayette County Fairgrounds in Wisconsin. You will see why people said turn 1 was scary. Narrow and a it causes the track to have a really "unique" shape
Real race cars don't have fenders...
