It was déjà vu for me as I watched Jeff Swindell take the win at Lawton Speedway. The last time I saw Jeff race at Lawton was way back in 1983 or 1984 in the B&L Electric WoO #80 sprint car. I saw him take the win at Lawton that night too in Merle "Crockett" Thomason's Crockett's Rocket. He also took Devil's Bowl the night before back then.
Congrats Jeff

Cool to see him win! I saw him look outstanding at the Bowl a few years ago only to have the left rear come apart. Ironic... taking pictures in the pits before the races I noticed his wheel had been repaired. Not well is my guess. First impression of him at Lawton was I believe from '83 when he flipped in the A after catching that culvert they once had in turn 3. "84 was a good one for him... a real shame that the world lost Merle Thomason that year as well. They really figured it all out that year. Knoxville was the big one that evaded them both the next few years IMHO after the car went away from the tour. Kudos to the family for finishing the year!

Yes, he was very fast in the B&L car. I do remember Mr. Thomason passed away and they finished out the year.
Miss the days when the WoO made their way to Mesquite-Lawton-OKC.

I couldn't beleave the BS move Jason Johnson pulled to take out Christopher Bell and himself. Jeff said Bell had the car to beat, but he will take the win any way he can get it.

I was not there, but does not surprise my about Jason Johnson...... Use to be a fan, but his driving skills have me going in the other direction now. Especially after the move he pulled on Christopher Bell last year at Short Track Nationals in the Dash race.

On another note, it was awesome to see the grandstands packed. Having Smoke there sure helped.
Great racing for the fans.
