Nice Tinker Take Off (base newspaper) write-up on Brian Werner (7w factory stock, Ada) with the 552nd here at the base. Nice to see a decent news item on dirt track racing in a local paper. Kudos to the Tinker Take Off.

Tinker racer aims high at local speedway John E. Banks - Staff Writer

Four years ago, Brian Werner started a dirty habit.
On Saturday nights, the electro environmental specialist with the 552nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron participates in Factory Stock Dirt Track Racing at the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada.
“A friend of mine bought two factory stocks about four years ago,” Werner said. “Then I purchased one of them from him and I have been hooked ever since.”
Werner, who has been stationed at Tinker for 12 years said racing in Ada gives him a recreational release after putting in long hours with his squadron.
“I wouldn’t change a thing,” he said.
The friendships Werner has developed over the years at the Oklahoma Sports Park make him a valued member of the racing fraternity and a well respected driver.
“Brian races fair and clean and that is what you want from you competitors on a nightly basis,” said Kristi Byrd, a fellow driver in the factory stock division.
“I don’t race for money,” Werner said. “The friends I have made and the enjoyment I get from setting up the car, fine tuning it and ultimately getting on this 3/8-mile slightly baked clay oval is all the reward I need.”
Werner said his family supports his racing endeavors.
“My wife, Robin, is an information technology specialist with the 522nd Computer Systems Squadron, and enjoys watching the action while I am racing,” he said. “My two sons, Ethan, 3; and Cole, 18 months thoroughly enjoy it as well. Cole always runs up to the car when he hears the race motor come to life.”
On July 7, Werner posted his best finish of the year. After finishing second in his qualifying heat, he started in the 12th starting slot in the “A” feature. Werner worked his way up to the sixth place spot before a miscue put him back into eighth place and the checkered flag fell.
“I gave it my best shot,” he said. “It was a lot of fun and a blast to race here each and every Saturday night. The track was very slick and I missed the setup just a little bit, but I am happy with the way I performed tonight.”

hey thanks guys, it was kinda cool to have this happen. the guy that writes for them is very excited about dirt track racing and runs around with Justin Guinn and his crew he is also a Navy veteran. Real good guy. Thanks to Flash we are getting the car closer on set-up. I try to use the advice wisely. I hope a lot of people got to read and see we do have some fun around here.

It will all come together soon as i think we may have fixed some last night. Some of the rest will come, i have always had good power not always is that the key. i was kinda glad my first car was a pile of junk so i could learn a lot from it. having a better built car now is a plus but still so much to do. But got the right front up almost an inch from last week.
