CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS RETURN TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(Placentia, CA, May 22, 2013) For only the third time in 2013, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series will return to its home track, "The Southern California Home to Major League Sprint Car Racing," Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday night, May 25th, for the Annual "Salute to Indy." Joining the CLS on the card will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprint Cars and the PAS Young Gun Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM for the quadruple header show and the first race will be at 7:00.

While Saturday's race will only be the third at The PAS in the first eight races of the campaign, six of the final ten after Saturday will be staged on the famous Riverside County clay oval. Included will be the season ending 18th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals on November 1st and 2nd.

In the previous two races of 2013 at The PAS, Placentia's Dan Hillberg and 2010 series champion Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley picked up the main event wins. Overall in 2013, Lomita's Bobby Michnowicz is the only driver with more than one win and he has three. 2011 Rookie of the Year Steven Limon of Corona and Northern California's Doug Nunes are the other drivers with CLS victories in the first half of the season.

Limon led the championship point standings from the first race until two weeks ago at Bakersfield when Hillberg commandeered the top spot. Heading into Saturday show, which
will include a 20-lap main event for the CLS, Hillberg has a narrow 12-point advantage over Limon. Michnowicz, who has missed one race, is third in the standings followed Hemet teenager Alex Bissett and Guy Maresch of Anaheim Hills. There is only a seven point spread from fourth place Bissett to sixth place Tom Downing of Lakewood.

There has been one change to the CLS schedule. The June 1st non wing race scheduled for the Orange Show Stadium in San Bernardino has been cancelled.

For 2013, cars in the CLS will be carrying transponders and they will qualify at all events. The
driver with the most fast qualifying times at the end of the season will win the "Cold Fire West Qualifying Championship" and will pocket an extra $500.00. Another new sponsor to the
series this season is Extreme Muffler. They will sponsor the "Extreme Muffler Heat Race Championship" and the driver with the most heat race wins will collect a $500.00 check.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Cold Fire West, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, Extreme Muffler, Performance by Rosson Racing, Electro Tech Powder Coating, Oil Twins Amsoil and Haul Ass Fuel. If you or your company would like to become part of the California Lightning Series for the 2013 season, please call Dan Hillberg at: (714) 719-0295.
