After losing the first four shows to weather, the UMSS winged sprint cars will open their season on Friday night May 24 at the St. Croix Valley Raceway for the running of the 2nd Annual Davey Tabor Memorial paying $1,034 to win along with an increased payout for all feature race finishing positions thanks in large part to the Tabor family's contribution of $1,200 to the purse and also with some help from GRP Motorsports. The TSCS non-winged sprints will be in action on Friday for their second race of the young season, and GRP Motorsports has bumped up their first place payout to $334.
Then on Saturday May 25, both UMSS sprint car divisions will race at the Rice Lake Speedway. Again, thanks to some help from GRP Motorsports, the UMSS winged sprint feature will pay $1,000 to win while the TSCS sprints will make their first-ever appearance at Rice Lake. The TSCS purse is posted on the UMSS website.
With a fine doubleheader weekend in store, a strong field of cars is expected in both divisions at each track. Brooke Tatnell is planning on defending his Tabor Memorial title on Friday night driving his own #25 sprint car. Several other stout competitors will be on hand with thoughts of defeating Tatnell and taking home top honors. Some of those expected include two-time UMSS champion Jerry Richert Jr, Chris Graf, former UMSS champion Cody Hahn, Scott Broty, Scotty Thiel (who swept to wins at both tracks last August), Lee Grosz, Jason Tostenson and several others. Come on out and enjoy a couple of nights of sprint car racing at two tracks separated by about an hour in travel time between the two.
