Ford Focus driver Ashley Hazelton (daughter of former Western States Midget driver Ron Hazelton) was seriously injured in a flip at Ventura Raceway in a heat Sat. night. Ashley has suffered a fracture to the C2 vertebrae and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ashley and the entire Hazelton family for a safe procedure and speedy recovery.

update from Ron Hazelton today;

Ashley moved out of ICU today with full halo installed rather than the surgery on C2, Ron said it will be several months of halo time then therapy time, they are optimistic for full recovery,

Ron and family appreciate all the prayers and well wishers for their support during this ordeal,

Ron doesnt know how long she will be hospitilzed and will keep us posted,

Great news

Ashley I do not know you but being the father of a sprint & midget driver I understand the tough time

you and your parents are going through . My son Todd broke his back 2 years ago at chico and now is fighting leukemia .

Just the fact that you are brave enough to drive a race car tells me that you are going to fight hard and work hard to get well enough to race again .But first get yourself healed and healthy so your parents can have a reason to smile again . Hang in there Kid-O racers are tough

Get well soon ---Todd Miller

Great news today Ashley is home from the hospital

I spoke to Ron Hazelton this morning and as we know Ashley is home and resting comfortably. She will be in a halo for 3 months with x-rays every 3 weeks to check on healing. She will then need 3 more months of physical therapy to aid with the repair of the fracture. She is fully committed to race again just as soon as the doctor gives her the green flag.

This girl is a real racer !!!

Thoughts and prayers for a healthy and complete recovery. We want to see the #59 on the race track soon.
