Eckert has a new California column concerning four races in two weeks at Tulare, Watsonville, Placerville and Antioch at http://www.sprintcarstats.com/news/?i=14918. And before Phil Taylor turns it into a hyperlink, will someone tell me where that feature has gone?

I think it was putting the period at the end of it that caused it to not hyper.
And I apoligize for not being Phil, although I once bought a used Fender Strat that some guy had Elmer's glue and glittered the name Phil on it.
I enjoy and appreciate your columns.

Once again, a big smile and work issues get set aside and an old song by LRB titled Reminiscing comes back into focus, happens every time I read this guy....

Nice read, as usual. Regarding tracks where sprint cars go uphill to reach the pits, Gibson forgot about Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, WI. Pits are uphill from the track on a flat gravel pad behind the hillside spectator seating. They push sprinters to the edge of the hill with quads, and unlike Placerville, didn't need to utilize trucks at the bottom of the hill. Coast & fire! They exit off turn 4, and head to the pits uphill on a path right in front of the spectator seating. I'll forgive John, since I think I witnessed the one and only WoO show there. Pretty cool track... I'd go back if they did.

Fox Ridge was closed a number of years ago, I'd guess going on around five years or so now.

" my quest for the path less traveled had to brake for sheep. The indifferent expressions on those wooly mammals were not unlike the Iowa probation board."
teehee
How does Kevin afford to drive around to sprint car races all year?

He carries one of those sharpie scrawled cardboard signs and waits for donations by the side of the road... well that and not having a woman, child, mortgage, car payment or a shitty boss to answer to every Monday morning makes living like a tramp on the run possible.
Cheers!
