A thought crossed my mind the other day. I was watching an archived Woo A main, thinking about how Mr. Gibson does such a great job remembering every aspect of every driver & car, mentioning telemetry (lap times, etc) & giving the fans inside info overheard via radio. What other announcer/s do such a great job the number of nights in a year JG does? Certainly none I can think of.

Not to mention the level of excitement he brings to the broadcast. He sounds like a kid in a candy store!!

Are you kidding me? Paul Page! He was the worst that ever was. I belive he is talking about either Sid collins who did a wonderfull job with the 500 radio broadcast for years or the track announcer Tom Carnegie who just retired a couple of years ago. I think that Bob Jenkins the present voice of the 500 does an awsome job too.

JG is the best. I always feel like I'm at a big time event when he's on the mic. That is the ultimate compliment IMO.
I like the music he spins too...

JG truly a asset to WRG..I don't know of another announcer that could deliver the character the Outlaws have set the past (what ?) years, I don't recall when JG started honestly, he keeps the fan informed greatly, we race locally less than a handful of times with the Outlaws per season, Our car has done nothing to stand out in a crowd results wise, yet he spotted one of our sweatshirts and approached the crew member and chatted casually, proubly curious if we were racing nearby that week, this is 1500 miles from home! (our home) , that takes some memory and dedication to his position, JG one of a kind...

From the races I've heard him announce, I'm impressed that he always sounds truly happy and excited to be announcing each one. I think it's difficult for anyone to be doing anything for as long as he has, especially with all of the traveling, and to still be at that level for each event.
And if anyone should find racing to get a little old and tiring, it should be him. But he often spends his off-nights at a non-WoO racing event.

The only bad thing about a live sporting event is...There's no mute button...:p

Exactly! No one else does it as well, or as often!

For my next million dollar idea, I'm going to develop a hearing devise that filters out the PA System yet still allows the engine noise to filter through...

Wow. . . thanks SO MUCH! I'm really just a sprint car fan who gets to talk about the most exciting form of racing in the world. I'm very fortunate. . . Thanks again.
