Ya... being union and getting paid more with benefits...sounds like a total recipe for slowing everything down...you Romney lovers never cease to amaze me with your lack of intelligence when it comes to worker's rights...it's my union wages that allow me to have weekends off and afford to be able to drive 5 hours every weekend to watch races in the sprint car Capitol of the world...

Yes sure we know. Ask the union workers at Wonder bread and twinkies. Company was loosing money but struck any way. They now have no jobs, and it is hard to find a job now days.

How much more should a already poor person have to pay to buy something because the price is higher to pay that said union worker ?? Had 2 union jobs that didn't pay any higher than what I make now & they took dues to help the likes of dipshits like Schumer, Pelosi. Granted a couple republicans shot thier self in the foot at election time. Just goes to show ya we are all human some dumber than others.

On a bright note The Democrat Sherrod Brown here in Ohio wants to up the Minimum wage to $10.10 an hr.

I have a brother that touts the union but before he got in they would have him go & fix a journeymans screwups. Pissed him off to no end.

Well said Leon. I did fine and never belonged to a union. I guess I didn't need one to look out for me and make sure my employer never worked me too hard, or expected (heaven forbid) me to produce while on the clock.

IMHO - Unions are one of the reasons why many formerly US-based companies and their jobs are now operating (if those companies are still in business) outside the US. What started out as a "good for the American worker idea" rapidly deteriorated into increased prices for US-made goods, inflation and the current demise of the US economy. Again just my opinion ... YMMV.

Unions are slowly killing America. Unions are out dated. Over paid underworked whiners. Filtair is spot on. I never desired to take a job where a union was involved and never will. Yup I travel to races every weekend and logged 100,000 miles in 4 years doing it. No union money was desired. Your dues go to your "union boss" AKA Mafia leader. keep it, close it, get over it. See ya at the track!

Yeah, keep down talking those unions. Apparently you aren't smart enough to understand that the wages you make, even on a non union job are a direct result of union efforts. You can thank them for overtime pay, paid vacations and pretty much every other benefit you have. What is killing America is greedy companies having their products made overseas and selling their stuff for the same price to increase profits.Wages and benefits are going down and pensions are almost a thing of the past, and that is a result of no competition for the American worker. Our government could fix this problem by making it totally unprofitable to import foreign products into th U.S.

Sounds like some of the people here want American workers to lay down & accept 3rd World wages & no benefits. If these 3rd World countries had unions, EVERYBODY would be better off. But of course we fought the whole Cold War to prevent that (with our tax $) You can't blame workers anywhere for wanting better conditions, & have to expect corporations to look for the cheapest labor. They play all the countries off against each other.

But we're getting all political here when the original post was meant as a wisecrack

Bibbad,I have no doubt you are a good worker and have the right attitude of a good worker, but you are naïve in thinking the laws are going to do anything to protect your job.All it takes is for stock holders to demand more profits, and your job or wages and benefits will be cut,and if your current ceo or person in charge isn't willing to do it they will replace them with someone that will.

Private sector unions now about 10% of the work force yet still responsible for the current sluggishness of the american economy? Responsible for the offshoring of all the jobs? What about free trade agreements and tax breaks to move those same jobs? Check the facts on Wonder bread, you'll find they were taken over by a private equity firm who then demanded a couple rounds of concessions from they're employees, while sucking the life, along with big bonuses for themselves, out of the company. No the unions aren't perfect but they make sure working people get a seat at the table. Protect the deadbeats, yeah, and it ticks me off too. But the union didn't hire them and if they allow one of them to be railroaded it sets a precedent the company then applies to everyone else. Things not always as simple as they seem. I wonder how many of you union bashers have a defined benefit pension plan? Not many I'm bettin. And you all have plenty in that 401k they set you up with instead? Riiiiight! And the same bunch in DC that have worked so hard the last 30 yrs to put organized labor in the history books are now goin after social security. I could go on and on. And all the while the rich get richer. Don't just chew up and swallow everything you're fed. Spend a little bit of the time you would normally spend here checkin this stuff out. Like I said, organized labor isn't perfect but it's not the boogie man either. Take an honest look for yourself.

In an effort to try to get us back on track...Steve couldn't hold his position last night in the feature at Hanford. Started second (I think his best starting spot this year) and finished tenth.

Kraig moved up pretty good last night. Wish his brother Kurt would get tired of getting hit in the head and caring on the family tradition .
