CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS JOIN WORLD OF OUTLAWS SATURDAY AT PERRIS!

(Placentia, CA, April 9, 2013) After one weekend off, the California Lightning Sprint Cars return to action in front of one of the biggest crowds of the year this Saturday night, April 13th, when they join the legendary World of Outlaws in "The SoCal Showdown" at Perris Auto Speedway.

Third year CLS driver Steve Limon of Corona, comes into Saturday's big event as the leader in the championship points. Fresh off a win at the series last race at the Ventura Raceway on March 30th, Limon has a slim 9-point lead over veteran Dan Hillberg of Placentia. Hillberg captured the season opening main event at Perris on March 9th. Lakewood's Tom Downing, who had a CLS personal best finish of second behind Limon at Ventura, is third in points. Guy Maresch of Anaheim Hills and Hemet teen Alexander Bissett comprise the fourth and fifth place spots.

Last year at the "SoCal Showdown," Lomita's Kevin Michnowicz won the main event over Limon, Hillberg, 2010 CLS champ Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley and Anaheim's Dale Gamer. Michnowicz is expected to be back to defend his win on Saturday.

The CLS portion of Saturday's show will consist of qualifying, six-lap heat races and a 20-lap main event.

Saturday's race starts a busy three week stretch for the CLS in April. On the 20th, it will head to the Bakersfield Speedway for the second round of the "King of California Mini Sprint Challenge." That race will be the first of two-times in 2013 that the CLS drivers will be competing without wings. The month will wind up on April 27th with a race at the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino.

For 2013, cars in the CLS will be carrying transponders and they will qualify at all events. The
driver with the most fast qualifying times at the end of the season will win the "Cold Fire West Qualifying Championship" and will pocket an extra $500.00. Another new sponsor to the
series this season is Extreme Muffler. They will sponsor the "Extreme Muffler Heat Race Championship" and the driver with the most heat race wins will collect a $500.00 check.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Cold Fire West, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, Extreme Muffler, Performance by Rosson Racing, Electro Tech Powder Coating, Oil Twins Amsoil and Haul Ass Fuel. If you or your company would like to become part of the California Lightning Series for the 2013 season, please call Dan Hillberg at: (714) 719-0295.
