Austin McCarl – Ready for Knoxville and Huset's!

(Bill W) April 2, 2013 – Thanks to backing from New Gulf Resources and Excel Therapy Specialists, both based in Oklahoma, Austin McCarl is back in action at the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday nights. Bargain Barn Tire Center of Sioux Falls will also be helping the Altoona, Iowa driver this season, and he will again be tackling the Huset's Speedway near Brandon, South Dakota on Sunday nights.

The deal recently came about for Austin. "About two weeks ago, I was informed that New Gulf Resources and Excel Therapy Specialists were going to be on board with us this season," he says. "They were a big help at the Nationals last August, and I'm excited that they are with me this year. I hope it's the beginning of a great relationship."

Austin last competed at Knoxville on a full-time basis in 2011, when he became one of the youngest drivers to qualify for the Knoxville Nationals championship event. Last year, he finished third in the Huset's point standings, just one point from Mark Dobmeier in second. "It helps me out in getting an engine for Knoxville this year," says Austin of his new sponsors. "With the great guys from Bargain Barn Tire Center in Sioux Falls helping us out again, we'll be running Huset's too. I think we were competitive up there last year, and we look to be again."

Despite the timing, Austin has been working hard in the shop and will be ready for the April 20 Knoxville opener. "Everything has really come together the last couple weeks I'd say," he says. "It's a little bit later than what I'd like, but we'll be ready to go for the opener at Knoxville, and that's all that matters."

A familiar influence helped Austin get in contact with his new partners. "I have to send a big thank you to Bob Berryhill, Jane and the whole Berryhill family," he says. "Without them, really our whole family wouldn't be where we are today. Bob helped me hook up with New Gulf Resources and Excel Therapy Specialists. Without that, I wouldn't be racing this year. They are like a second family to me."

Austin McCarl is back! Sweeter Construction, AmericashAdvance.com, Rossie Feed & Grain and DeBerg Concrete are a few of the other partners returning for Austin. "I'm really looking forward to a good year. We'll have a new Rider engine, and it will be great to be back at Knoxville. I think we're going to be pretty competitive again."

Congratulations, Austin. Look forward to seeing you back at K'ville on a regular basis.

Now hopefully Carson can get something put together too!
