Huge Opening Weekend for Elk City Speedway This Weekend!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – March 11, 2013 - It will be a full day at the race track for both fans and drivers this coming Saturday as Elk City Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma kicks off their 2013 race season. Also awaiting both fans and drivers will be a new promoter and for the second year in a row, more changes to the track facility.
Texas racer Paul Vines was hired by track operators Calvin and Kenneth Bonner, Jr. during the past off season to handle promotion duties for the three-eighths mile track so the Bonners could focus on racing themselves. That hasn't kept the duo from putting money back into the facility as a new pit area grandstands, new and improved pit lighting and new victory lane circle are just some of the new additions to the speedway.
Friday night the weekend will kick off with the first and only play day at the track for all divisions competing during the 2013 race season at the speedway. Play day will take place from 4:00 pm until 8:30 pm.
Track personnel, drivers and fans alike will then head back home to get ready for one huge day at the track as a car show will take place at the Elk City Speedway parking lot from 2:00 pm until 4:00 PM with trophies presented to the best looking car in each division. This will also give race fans an up close and personal look at the cars and the drivers that will be competing later that night.
Drivers will then hit the pit area and fans will flock to the grandstands and ready themselves for the official season opening heat race beginning at 8:00 PM.
The weekly racing program consists of modifieds, limited modifieds, factory stocks and bombers. All divisions will see heat race money paid to the top five with all drivers competing in the divisions "B" feature and "A" feature finale also getting paid. Each nights modified feature finale winner will earn $600; limited modified feature finale winner $400; factory stock feature winner $300 and bomber feature winner $250.
Pit passes are $25 with grandstand admission for adults $10; ages 12-15 $7.00; ages 6-11 $2.00 and seniors $7.00; Kids five and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free.
