Would there have been total anarchy in the stands last Friday if track management had waved off the sprinters after the Super B? I probably like sprint car racing as much as anyone not named Jennings, and I would not have been offended in the least. Call me a sissy if you like, but I kept running through my head how much money was being lost and how dangerous things had become. Just curious what others would have thought had Lanny pulled the plug.
"I'd pay $15 to watch a sprint car sit still."

I would have been pissed. Unless of course they named the winner of the first B the overall winner, then I would have been fine.

you would think they could get off their ass and work the track before friday. This facility has some of the best equipment anywhere and they are to lazy to use it in the right way. All they had to do friday was to run the sprint cars first and seal the track but big boy knows it all!!!!!! He raced for 2-3 years and now he is an authority on everything.

thats a good point........for the same reason mods don't hot lap first.
I know that they were keeping the order of the show goin........but to tear the track up and then run mods I think it was a big mistake. but I'm no authority on it and am not much educated about it. just hope it's not so rough friday........if it doesn't get rained out again.
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

Good point. I mentioned to some of my friends that if I were a car owner or a owner/driver that I would possibly had taken my car to the pits. It appeared to me that the track was very dangerous and the drivers that didn't crash in those holes almost did several times. I know rain was an issue but I don't think track preparation is done in one day either. JMO.

It's not, but when the ground is soft and it rains the day before Friday with the track all tilled up you are going to have problems no matter who you are.

Come on Brandon! We have seen Knoxville do it......It is called preparation, get the officials off there butts and get out there and work it. Even if it rained the day before, get up bright and early and start working the track. It has been done!!!!

When was the last time Knoxville had 20 straight days of rain? Also is Knoxville built on an old river bed like SFS?

Not sure about this season , but Jimmy and his partner worked that track every day for 8 hours straight Monday thru Friday last saason.
I was there working with them for five days straight last August prior to our Motorcycle Races. Plus they started Saturday moring at 8am working the track for our event on Saturday night, following the Stock Car races Friday.
If you ever have time, drive out to the speedway some week day and check out all the labor and machine work that goes into the prep of the clay track.
Rain is the enemy this season, and has created havoc at many area dirttracks. I would not choose to be a track prep person first part of this season for double the money they are paid, which is not much to begin with. They have either worked their butts off or cannot wotk the dirt due to wet conditions, then have to work double time to get it into shape when the rain stops. A total nightmare for the Track Prep folks. And to top it off, it can and does go dusty under those conditions because you cannot get the water on the track in a consistant manner

I liked it . What a challange. Each car should have a throttle and a brake. It was fun
