Mark Dobmeier – Vegas Baby, Vegas!

Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports PR

March 5, 2013 – Mark Dobmeier and the Lunstra Motorsports #13 is ready to embark on their longest trip as a team as they head to the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to run with the World of Outlaws on Wednesday and Thursday night. The roughly 27-hour and 1700 mile trip from Grand Forks, North Dakota to Vegas has been completed and the team is ready to compete against a big field of sprint cars in the Sin City. The long haul couldn’t have been made without a couple of loyal sponsors stepping up to help with the diesel bill.

“I would like to thank Dammer Trucking and Rendezvous Region Construction for stepping up and allowing us to get out to Vegas for this trip,” Dobmeier said. “They are helping us get out to the track earlier than any year before and we are ready to hit the track!”

Work on the Eagle Chassis powered by Fisher Engines finished up late last week and the rig started to head for the desert. Surprising, this isn’t the first trip for Dobmeier to the desert as he competed back in 2004 for the double-header finale to that WoO season competing in the family car that year.

“Vegas is a big, wide track,” he stated. “It sounds like the racing has got a lot better over the last couple of years out there compared to what it was the last time we were out there. We’re excited to get the season started.”

Some changes occurred to the team over the offseason as crew chief Davey Whitworth left to get back on the WoO trail to crew chief for Joey Saldana and the newly formed Motter Motorsports #71M car. “We are definitely going to miss Davey as we had a pretty good relationship with him the last few years,” Mark said. “But, before him it was just our guys and that is the way it was all offseason putting cars back together and that is the way we’ll have it going forward for our 2013 season.”

For the Vegas races there will be a familiar face helping turn the wrenches in the pits at the state-of-the-art facility with that being Guy Forbrook. “Guy’s coming out to help us out this week. We’re looking forward to having him help us and hopefully we can jell right off the bat,” Mark said.

One other major offseason change awaits the Senske & Son Transfer, Sioux Falls Ford and Big Trucks by Jimco backed Eagle Chassis in Vegas. That being the switch back off Goodyear Tires where it was the last three years and back onto Hoosier Tires. The team and driver are excited for that switch back as bad luck plagued them, especially last year, with those Goodyears.

“Oh I can’t wait to get back on Hoosiers,” Mark exclaimed after bringing up the tire change. “We never really figured out the Goodyears and I don’t know how many races or good runs that we lost last year because of a tire failure. Those tire failures cost the team a ton of purse money, not to mention always breaking a shock, wing, header, or whatever else after they blew up.”

Once back in the Midwest, look for the team to do their usual three nights of racing with Friday at River Cities, Saturday at Knoxville, and Sunday at Huset’s just like in the past with heavy significance on the Outlaw shows within the area.

“We can’t wait to hit the track and see what we can do against some stacked competition,” he said. “It will be a fun week out there in Vegas, but we really want to show everybody what this team can do. I can’t thank my crew guys enough for coming over to the shop after their regular work hours to get these cars ready for this fun excursion to the desert.”

You can watch Dobmeier and the rest of the Outlaws from Vegas with video on Dirtivision.com for a viewing price, or listen to them for free both nights on the same site.

Rough weekend for Dynamite. Was really hoping that he could kick off the season with a strong showing.
