When it was announced that the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series would be holding an event at the famed Eldora Speedway, many wondered how many of our favorite dirt track stars would be entered into the event. We expected that we would see Josh Richards, who has experience in the trucks, but a lot of folks had their fingers crossed that black sunshine himself would be given an opportunity.
 Many had been speculating that Scott Bloomquist would be behind the wheel of a Kyle Busch Motorsports truck, but nothing had been confirmed. Today our friends at DirtonDirt.com reported that Bloomquist will in fact be driving for KBM at the 1st annual “Mudsummer” classic in July.
Over the past few seasons Bloomquist had supplied rides for Kyle Busch in the annual Prelude to the Dream. Kyle even won the event in 2012 wheeling a Bloomquist car.
Bloomquist had recently told Tennessee Racer.com of his plans to race in the Truck Series date at Eldora, but until now we could only speculate as to who he would be driving for. From TennesseeRacer.com:
“The only thing that’s in the works that’s different for next year, that’ll be a first for me, is they’re having a truck race there(at Eldora),” Bloomquist said of his plans for 2013. “I’ve already been contacted to run that race and you can pretty much count on us being at that race. That’ll be on television and it’ll be an exciting deal. I’m looking forward to something new like that.”
Regardless of how you feel about NASCAR returning to dirt, the event has already been a success as Eldora announced this week that the event only has 300 general admission seats left.
